Since a lot of the point you made was about a belt that eluded him or you thought he failed to win, just wanted you to know he won it, so likely gaethje wouldn't have the motivation for that.

Gaethje has been speaking about retirements. I mean the man has had 7 title fights.. Ferguson, Khabib, Oliveira, Poirier, Holloway, Paddy, Ilia. The guy got every opportunity to win the belt.. now do the same and defend the thing.

true i fogot he held the belt but he still does have an L to Olivera so that is plenty of motivation for him. Especially another chance to take a belt off olivera as their first fight was supposed to be for the LW belt but only justin could win and he lost in the first round.

Even then it’s awful. They only fight one every 9 months at top level so you are holding up a division for two years and more when you consider the period before and after those matches.
Ban immediate rematches. Ideally fallen champions must win 2 fights before getting a TS. 1 would be a bare minimum.
0 is unacceptable in any circumstances. Even Panty should have to win one. He had no excuse for being frail. He lost. Go win a fight and prove you can still fight at 37. Title run wasn’t that incredible. He beat a bunch of over rated Kai people and struggled with Erceg. Let’s not call him DJ.
And Val. OMG Val. Gets 2 rematches; 1 after being finished and the next after being outfought but getting a piss poor draw decision that has somehow been spun into her being robbed. Then she refuses a decider! And she’s a hero? Unfathomable.
UFC enables some bizarre privilege at the upper end.
#they are all awesome. Just judging them as supposed superstars.

I don't think you can set a policy that works for both the men and women when the women struggle to hold on to a top 5 roster. Maria from Starbucks could land at #5 today.

Which Starbucks? My student this week went to visit the Starbucks in South Korea from where you can see North Korea. I think the staff there can fight.
Also you are avoiding the basic concept. Switching the topic to 'women suck' looks like an avoidance tactic. No immediate rematches is a sound policy imo.

There's always gonna be one offs and pantoja definitely deserves an immediate rematch.

I think you have to look at case by case basis. It wouldn't be fair to not give pantoja an immediate rematch for example

MVP never demanded no rematch and instead demonstrated his sporting mindset by winning five fights in just over year before getting his revenge on Lima. MVP wasn't a champ of course, but I didn't raise the comparison.

I didn't say women suck.
I said their population in mma is sparse. I've never liked wmma but it's become tolerable to me, I've changed and evolved. Slowly, but the evolution has and is occurring.
