It says I have 1 new message but it's not showing up in my inbox.
My inbox was full, but I've cleaned that up. I've deleted all board cookies, deleted my browsing history and all associated files and cookies etc, closed explorer and reopened.

A number of hours later I checked again and the notice that I received a pm but my inbox was full and click to resend blah blah had arrived to take care of the issue. All's well that ends well.
