For those who wanted to know, my next fight should be on July 11th here in Hawaii for Hawaii Fighting Championships. Don't have a name of an opponent right now but me being on the card is a done deal it will be Amateur and at 170 pounds.
Also theres possibly big things coming up for my career but I don't want to Jinx anything so I will keep it to myself for right now. I will let everyone who wants to know, know if it goes through.

Thanks Gordon.
The cut to 155 is possible but after talking it over with my coaches they told me to hold off right now. I walk around at about 173 with 5.5% body fat so the cut is pretty taxing on my body. So they told me to hold off and fight at 170 right as an Amateur because that way I am not losing any strength and I can worry about getting better rather than worry about cutting the weight. I am still young (21) so I am still going to grow a little more and fill out some more, but the possibility of me going down is still there just not right now.
Maybe when I go pro

Cool Thanks for the explanation! Do you weigh in day of or day before the fight? I thought I heard (read) that the Am fights generally weigh in day of. I could be drunk though too.

I guess some places do day of, I have never seen it personally, but I have heard that some places do that. I have always weighed in the day before. I could make 155 but right now I am not going to run into a world beater here in Hawaii at 170 as an amateur. I am naturally strong for my size (farmboy strength, and yes it does exist) Showdown, I don't carry around extra junk, I am pretty lean at 170.
All in all the cut to 155 is a bit tough, I have wrestled my whole life and can do it but right now I am worried about getting better and stronger. ICON and Elite XC are 160 for lightweight... but thats a story for a later date.

Dude my MMA coach fought at 170 in Amateur and was a Champion in 3 diff. Organization at the same time. When he went Pro he dropped to 155 and know he even talking 145 he is a Short lil bastard 5'6.I went from 190 to 155 in about 6 weeks and felt fine. But I was 20lbs over weight and a lot better suited at 155 cause of my lack of strength at 185lb.I had the skinny fat kid syndrome if you know what that is.

Yah I might go down when I go pro but for right now as an Amateur I am fine at 170, I have never been over powered and i feel strong at that weight.

I don't know how events work where you are, but in my last amateur fight (Columbus, OH) they just had us weigh in a couple of hours before the fight. Are most amateur events like that? If so, that makes it tough to try and cut to a lower weight class because you don't have the 24-hour rehydrate/rest time. As a pro it seems it would be easier to make the bigger cut because you can lose more water weight and get it back.

Brick, I have always weighed the day before, even as an amateur.

Man, it just must have been that particular venue I was at. Would have prefered the day before, but then again everyone was weighing in right before the fights as well, so the playing ground was level. Maybe. When they announced me as I approached the cage, they gave me an extra 10 pounds. I hope that was an announcer screw up and not on the athletic commission sheet, but they did give me a bigger guy than I was expecting to see across the cage (matchups were also made right before the fight -- real big-time event, lol).
