No we don’t agree lol. Van gets taken down a lot, especially early on and is probably not the level of grappler Erceg is. Taira was shooting in and getting the takedowns easily before he got hurt badly. Once he was hurt it screwed up his ability to not blindly shoot in anymore and Van did a fantastic job in the scrambles after that. Pantoja will not have any issues taking Van down, keeping him there and maybe even submitting him. It’s just if he can keep it up for 5 rounds with Van is the question?

Anyways, I don’t know the timeline for Pantojas return. The fall seems reasonably timed, but anything to see Kape pissed off again that he hasent got a title shot will make me lol and happy

"Van gets taken down a lot" He's also young and improving and his takedown defense will get better whereas Pantoja is probably at the beginning of a decline.

Vans a blue belt, maybe purple now and he’s not going to put up the same resistance on the mat. Pantoja takes everyone down, long term blackbelt, covers up well and is very durable. He’s not going to play around for long with Van in the stand up. He’s relentless in getting those takedowns and control before he takes something.

Taira was hurt badly and it took him a while to get his head back in the game before he even shot in for a takedown. He has poor defence with his hands whereas Pantoja doesent. It’s laughable to suggest that Taira has a better chin than Pantoja. He was visibly hurt against Edgar Chavez and Royval as well as Van too. Honestly, I’ve never seen Pantoja hurt to the head once like you think you have, 36 fights and never been dropped, let alone ktfo and I doubt Van can do it but stranger things have happened. Not even sure Taira has better cardio than him either. It always looks as though he’s tired but he always seems to keep up the pace for 5 rounds.

Let’s see if Pantojas lost a step due to his age, injury and that could easily be a possibility.

Until Taira got hurt. Lad out here running spin like its a press release for a politician. Until Van hurt Taira and took away his confidence to shoot. Not all TDD is defensive wrestling. Van nailed the task and deserves respect for it, not a conversation about how Taira magically got hurt and Pantoja may never fully recover

Dude, the top one is a joke, but you been diminishing Van all the time. You do this for people you like, it's a habit a lot of people have. Choose to publish it and you're open to being called out and goofed on.

I am in the minority thinking Khamzat took the 3rd the other night, but I back up my position with quotes from the rules so it's gonna be difficult to call me out. Your post boils down to, it wasn't a fair sporting exchange because Van hurt Taira in a sport where hurting your opponent is one of the main goals. I'mma laugh at that take and give Van his flowers

Hes had his neck snatched up before by RNC. Most of Pantojas wins are by that.

Man, I’m not even a fan of either guy like you clearly are but the more you talk about it the more I can see Pantoja just dominating the kid.

You know I was only joking with that last comment to you, right? I love leprechauns.

I’ve given Van massive props, I don’t dislike the kid at all. He’s given me no reasons to not like him as a person or as a fighter, but forgive me for having major doubts with the logic that goes on in my head. Taira has his hands low. He’s not smart in that respects and got tagged repeatedly after initially dominating, duh!! I see things. I don’t see Pantoja stupidity getting tagged like that. His hands are glued to his chin and he has serious grappling abilities and a cast iron chin. I can’t see him losing to Van, I don’t expect to voice my opinions about a fighter and to get quoted by 3 people at the same time. I wished I kept that shit to myself now, fuck!!

Ok, fair points, I understand your thoughts a bit better now.

Unfortunately, we got a lot of bored ass mfers on these forums that are gonna bite on a stray bone and run that shit straight off a cliff. I'm for sure one of em, unfortunately. But my habits in boredom are better spent here than out partying non stop so eso cie que es!

OMG he lost once, 5 years ago in Fury in like his 3rd pro fight to a RNC (and once to a KO to charles johnson)

interestingly, cuz I had to go look it up. Pantoja has lost 6 times. 5 by decision and his only loss by TKO is that arm injury. That's really quite a record. (30-6)

I’m just hangry right now so I think it’s time to eat.

Vans going to be the best in the world, I know he’s got the belt blah blah blah but right now I don’t see it. Kape, Pantoja, Kavanagh are interesting puzzles for him to solve stylistically. I see holes, not in his boxing, his boxings excellent, conditioning excellent. Grappling, tdd getting there. I cant imagine how good he’s going to be in 4 years, but he’s done great so far. His wins over Taira and Royval are no joke and needs to be taken seriously by Pantoja.

I remember him on TUF and I never envisioned how good he was going to be after that show. He submitted Moreno on there, beat Kai but lost a decision to a Japanese fella. I always assumed he was going to get knocked out eventually but it never came and he got better. He only lost a decision back in the day with a primed Jussier Formiga, who was a multiple world Bjj champion
