Commanders QB Jayden Daniels sends LSU cease-and-desist after No. 5 jersey given to CB DJ Pickett
The Washington Commanders quarterback sent a cease-and-desist letter to LSU this month informing the school that it can no longer use his name, image and likeness, according to ESPN.
While Daniels hasn't been a member of the Tigers' program for years, the issue is apparently over his old jersey number. The Tigers are allowing sophomore cornerback DJ Pickett to wear No. 5 this season, which is the same number that Daniels wore when he won the Heisman Trophy in Baton Rouge during the 2023 campaign.

Commanders QB Jayden Daniels now reportedly wants LSU to give back his Heisman Trophy over another player wearing No. 5
Jayden Daniels is apparently really, really upset with LSU.
A day after it became known that the Washington Commanders QB was unhappy with a player on LSU's current roster wearing the No. 5 jersey, Louisiana Sports reported that Daniels has also asked for LSU to "return its copy of the Heisman Trophy Daniels won in 2023."
LSU reportedly has no plans to do so.

His team went 5-12 last year. Maybe focus on fixing that instead of looking back at a college jersey number that nobody remembers anyway. This guy sounds like Al Bundy talking about scoring 4 touchdowns in one game in high school. A terrible look.ffs dude give it a rest, it's a fuckin number. fuck people who insist on being memorialized, gtfo

Also, the whole "you can't use my NIL at all anymore" is ridiculous. Every athlete (even peon preferred walk-on's like me) signs a media and photo release form, generally prior to orientation, which allows the school to continue to use images/media of your playing days for 'general use' (for free) long after you retire if they feel like it.
I mean if LSU were trying to make a Jaden Daniels biopic without his consent that'd be a different story. Them using videos of him from when he was playing for LSU on the scoreboard during timeouts is fine though, he can't tell them they aren't allowed to do that because he agreed to it before he took his first snap.

LOL my dad never posts on Facebook, but when I do see an update from him it is almost always this disclaimer posted lololol. When I first heard that he sent my letter I immediately thought of all the fucking morons who post the "Dear Facebook, I'm publicly declaring that you can't use anything that I post for your own purposes" nonsense.

Bro, you did give Facebook/Meta explicit permissions to use your personal data when you created your profile and started using their service. It's right in the terms and conditions:
3.3 The permissions you give us
We need certain permissions from you to provide our services:
2. Permission to use content you create and share: Specifically, when you share, post, or upload content that is covered by intellectual property rights on or in connection with our Products, you grant us a non-exclusive, transferable, sub-licensable, royalty-free, and worldwide license to host, use, distribute, modify, run, copy, publicly perform or display, translate, and create derivative works of your content (consistent with your and settings). This means, for example, that if you share a photo on Facebook, you give us permission to store, copy, and share it with others (again, consistent with your settings) such as Meta Products or service providers that support those products and services. This license will end when your content is deleted from our systems.
4. Permission to use your name, profile picture, and information about your actions with ads and sponsored or commercial content: You give us permission to use your name and profile picture and information about actions you have taken on Facebook next to or in connection with ads, offers, and other sponsored or commercial content that we display across our Products, without any compensation to you. For example, we may show your friends that you are interested in an advertised event or have liked a Facebook Page created by a brand that has paid us to display its ads on Facebook. Ads and content like this can be seen only by people who have your permission to see the actions you've taken on Meta Products. You can about your ad settings and preferences.

It makes you look like a fucking moron for a second ;)"Ok, even if it is irrational, it doesn't hurt to post the disclaimer does it?"
I guess not?
Oh no worries. He is a moron for posting this stuff. My mom recently told me that he got sucked into one of those Geek Squad email scams too hahaha.I shouldn't have said fucking morons.
I have a neighbor who is a very kind person that appears to be a great father to his kids and by all accounts a decent human being, who routinely posts those ridiculous disclaimers.
I did try to sit down with him years ago and explain why it's so irrational, showed him how to access Facebooks 'terms and services' and everything, but his response was, "Ok, even if it is irrational, it doesn't hurt to post the disclaimer does it?"
I guess not?

)My mom recently told me that he got sucked into one of those Geek Squad email scams too hahaha.
At first my dad was trying to not tell me about that but then he fessed up when my mom started spilling the beans. He got one of those emails about his Geek Squad account being renewed or cancelled or something and he clicked on the link smh.... his computer locks up. Then he calls the number that popped up (or the guy calls him... I don't know) and the guy tells him to send him $10,000 to get his computer unlocked. My dad tells him to fuck off and they start arguing... after 5 minutes of arguing, my dad's solution? 'I unplugged the fucking router!'
Hahahahah. OMG. He said he then changed all his passwords on everything, ran a virus check on the computer after it rebooted... everything seems pretty normal.
Man, it sucks getting old.
Yeah... and in his defense, he does really have a geek squad account and those emails look very legit. Even the link looks like a Best Buy link. So that one I can slightly understand. I thought his solution of unplugging the router was hysterical because he told me he did that in a 'Haha! What are you gonna do now?!' kind of tone to the scammer. lol. Well played dad! lololI mean yes, it's dumb... especially when you factor in the part where people take time out of their day to explain why it's dumb, and it still doesn't change the dumb behavior.
I've done/do lots of dumb things though. Easy example: getting blackout drunk so many times in my youth despite people taking time out of their day to tell me how unhealthy that was to do.
My point is, I would object to someone categorizing me as a fucking moron solely based off that one action.
(there's a lot of other reasons as to why I'm a fucking moron)
Ugh that sucks.
I will say that while it would have been ideal for your dad not to take the bait... my frustration/ire when it comes to that stuff is way more directed at the scammers that are sending it out, than towards the people who fall for it.
