My embarassing sporting moment for me was during my 8th grade year.
Our basketball team has a game against the junior high school that I transfered from (which is also our rivals). The gym is literally packed to capacity... it's in excess of 2,000 people (most of which are students, just about all of whom know me because I've attended both schools for one year at this point).
Well, I'm posting up down low and my friend Will is about 3 feet away from me on the wing (not in any kind of position to deliver the ball to me because his defender can turn around and I'm trapped)...
I figure he's either going to dribble back a bit to get a better angle on the entry pass, or he'll rotate the ball back to our point guard at the top to reset the offense. I start digging in deeper in the post, just in case he backs up to try to get a better angle. Instead of doing either of these things though, he sidearm whips the ball as hard as he can right at my nuts and I end up on the floor basically crying in pain as the other team runs down 5 on 3 and scores easily on us.
Basically the entire side of the gym that my old junior high is occupying is laughing their asses off and I'm so incredibly pissed off that my face turns bright red. Our coach burns a timeout to see if I'm okay and that just adds to the embarassment.
We went on to lose the game by about 12... which also sucked.
Complete embarassment that followed me all the way through about the sophmore year of high school. Once I finally started playing varsity ball people stopped mentioning it... it sucked though. Girls would be like, "oh you were that guy who got hit in the nuts with a basketball a couple years ago at the Shepard/Caruso game, weren't you? I remember that, it looked painful."
