Chonan cut from UFC
I don't have a source. But Loiseau and McDonald were both removed from the UFC's website before being cut.
Expect Chonan to be the next casualty.

The UFC had to cut them, they kept losing to B level competition. The UFC will bring in new better fighters to replace them, so i guess we should be happy.

i agree, i dont think either of those guys is a big suprise, Chonan was a good fighter and the last person to beat AS (i think?) but hes getting up there in age and dana is always loooking to bring in the younger/faster/stronger/flashier fighters

Too bad for Vinny Magalhaes, I thought he had great potential, even though his stand up is poor. His BJJ is world-class, and he may work his way back.

Yeah it's been posted.......Vinny is to busy during fights trying to be a kickboxer and not sticking to what he does best......Just like Gurgel.

I think if Gurgel utilizes his BJJ he will be a problem at LW...He just has to stick to mixing it up.

Yeah. It's a style called Wang & Bang.
It won't win you many fights, but it will win you one of these:

Yep. It just seemed like he was missing something over here. Might be the size of the American fighters compared to the Japanese fighters. Didn't he fight @ 183 in Pride?

i don't blame gurgel for fighthing theway he does, but the 155 division lacks BJJ stand outs and he eaisly coulda shot up the rankings with some good sub wins, like his boy hazlett.

Try and tell Gurgel this. He keeps trying to be a kickboxer.

gurgel is an excellent BJJ fighter, but he would never have been able to consistently submit any of the top LW's in the UFC. He isn't big enough and he doesn't have the wrestling or strength to control guys like Penn, Florian, Sherk, Sanchez, Maynard, Franca, Stevenson, etc. I think he ultimately knew this so he fought with the intention of giving the fans what they wanted and on the way put on quite a few highly entertaining fights. He definately should have used his BJJ skills much more frequently than he did, especially against the guys he was fighting, but he had virtually no chance of beating the top dogs and he knew it.
