comedy Comes and goes,
and in the 80's there were some serious comedy flicks that were golden in its time.
but some have not stood the test of time
Post and discuss.
1.
I thought this movie was great when i was a kid, i really got a kick out of " high tower " i think his name was and the guy who made sound effects " michael winslow " i think his real name is.
i even remember a cartoon for the movie at one point for 1 season.
but i have recently watch the first 3 of these movies, and they are just super cheese now, and i think i would need to be super stoned to at least get a chuckle from this flick
2.
I always like john candy, god rest his soul, and damn him for taking him so soon. but this movie is just horrible.
Once again it was ok during its time, but know its super cheese

Re: 80's movies you once thought were funny, but no longer a
What I've learned is that you have to watch 80's comedy and action hits un-editted to get the full effect. TBS, Comedy Central, TNT, AMC, ect butchers them.

Re: 80's movies you once thought were funny, but no longer a
There was a lot of crap back then (I know), but some still hold up pretty well, IMO:
"History of the World: Part I"
"Airplane!"
"The Princess Bride"
"Ferris Bueller's Day Off"
"Sixteen Candles"
"National Lampoon's Vacation"

Re: 80's movies you once thought were funny, but no longer a
There are crap movies in every era, and the 80's are no exception. Most of the popular ones are still funny when you watch the unedited version. The TV versions almost always suck.
I just watched Spies Like Us and Fletch over the weekend and laughed just as hard as the first time I saw them.

Also "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation", "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" and "Big" hold up well.
I might get flamed for this but I never thought Caddy Shack was funny. I just don't get it at all.

Any Cheech and Chong movie.
When I catch a taste of any of them on cable I wonder what was wrong with me to think there was anything remotely funny about that brain dead tripe.
Pee Wee's cameos excepted of course.
