ALEX CACERES REPLACES B.J. PENN, MEETS COLE MILLER AT UFC 199 ON JUNE 4
Alex Caceres
will step in for
B.J. Penn
and face
Cole Miller
at
UFC 199
, the promotion announced on Wednesday evening.
Penn was removed from the June 4 event due to an
anti-doping policy violation
, as he admitted to using an IV in excess of 50 mL in a six-hour period, a method which is prohibited both in- and out-of-competition. Penn was originally scheduled to face
Dennis Siver
at UFC 199, but Miller replaced Siver when the German fighter suffered an injury.
Caceres recently halted a three-bout skid at UFC on Fox 18, capturing a unanimous decision triumph over
Masio Fullen
on Jan. 30. “Bruce Leeroy” is 6-6 with one no contest over the course of a promotional tenure that began in 2011.
Miller is a veteran of 18 Octagon appearances. His most recent bout against
Jim Alers
at UFC on Fox 17 ended in a no contest due to an accidental eye poke by Alers in the second round.
UFC 199 takes place at The Forum in Los Angeles and is headlined by a middleweight championship clash between
Luke Rockhold
and
Michael Bisping
. In the co-main event,
Dominick Cruz
defends the bantamweight crown against
Urijah Faber
.
