UFC's Thiago "Pitbull" Alves will not fight at Saturday's UFC 111, because a CAT Scan shows an irregularity in his brain ... TMZ has learned.
Thiago was scheduled to rumble with Jon Fitch on Saturday -- but a pre-fight CAT Scan revealed an irregularity -- a source close to 26-year-old Pitbull tells TMZ the irregularity involves an artery in the brain.
UFC honcho Dana White tells TMZ he will fly Pitbull to a specialist for further evaluation. White says, "If it's true, it can be career-ending."
No one will replace Pitbull on Saturday. The headliner is Georges St- Pierre -- ironically, the fighter

this fight is never going to happen.....this would be the 2nd time it would be canceled no? i seem to remember this happening before.

D*mn! I hope its not career ending.... But it wouldn't be the first time DW said something was career-ending and it turned out not to be true.
On another note, it sucks for Fitch too, he needed this win to get a rematch...

"Former welterweight number one contender Thiago Alves has been pulled from his March 27 fight against Jon Fitch at UFC 111 after a CAT Scan has revealed an irregularity involving an artery in his brain.
TMZ first reported the unfortunate news earlier today and MMAmania.com has since confirmed the change with sources close to one of the fight camps.
The UFC is currently searching for an opponent on the east coast who is licensed in New Jersey, but the possibilities are slim due to the timing and strict licensing requirements in the "Garden State."

Yes, but head shot or no, when I see "irregular artery" I think "aneurism." If that's the case, the surgery or treatment is bound to be whole lot safer now than it would be if the thing burst. I wish him all the best, and look forward to more details.

Despite information in the original report the states otherwise, MMAmania.com has learned that UFC officials are currently searching for a replacement on the east coast who is licensed in New Jersey; however, the possibilities are slim due to the timing and strict licensing requirements in the "Garden State."
Still, Fitch has been instructed to maintain his current weight -- though the former collegiate wrestling standout has offered to move up to Middleweight (185-pounds) if it increases the promotion's chances of finding a suitable opponent.

is he prettending to move to MW?? if not, that will be a ridiculous decision... he can always skip this card and request to be in the next, when the UFC will have a little more time finding him the right opponent. (Thiago)... and move the paul harris fight to the main card...
He can fight thiago at UFC 112 (if thiago is ready), is not like kendall grove vs mark muñoz or Dos anjos vs Terry Etim are fights that cannot be move to the undercard... (sucks for them, but hell, sht happens)
