thats what makes him so scary
best striking in all of mma
iron chin
great bjj
the fact that his toughest test - chael sonnen has to take him 25 minutes in order to beat him is scary

not directed at you or this specifically, but i don't give a sh*t what anybody says Sonnen dropped him and had him in his most vulnerable in round 1 and round 2. Sonnen probably didn't expect to do so with such effectiveness, that instinct made him with go with his game plan and take it to the ground with the opportunity. which is fine. but that was the scenario where a Belfort, or Hendo, or hard hitter would have known to swarm and finish aa wobbly fighter who's been temporarily rocked.
Sonnen was the first fighter to simply go straight at Silva, not set up and box and trade punches or anything, and it probably wasn't in his training camp that that would happen and how to look for the first round finish. i don't think he'll get that opportunity again in fight 2.
Some people try to pass it off as Silva wasn't at all hurt or dropped or anything...blah,blah, blah.... i'm not gonna bother with that.
Silva has a great chin, Sonnen does, Hendo does, Belfort does.an extremely impressive 4 chins there.

if hendo/jones doesn't happen, i would LOVE to see a silva/hendo rematch at 205 (i dont want to be disappointed by a dan henderson that looks like he did against shields)

You can not bother with it all you want, Silva wasn't hurt - he was off balance and when he got hit he fell backwards. I'm not sure how anybody could watch that and think he was hurt.

I don't know how anyone watching that could think he was "off balance" before getting hit.
Dude got tagged with a straight left, right on the chin, and pretty much dropped on his ***. What is the gain in portraying him as this superhuman kind of guy that is on "Chuck Norris joke" levels of invincibility?
Just look at that. Silva has both feet firmly on the mat, isn't protecting his head, leaves an opening, and bam. Gets hit. There's literally nothing more to it.

Anybody can be knocked out.
It's not like Anderson has an invincible chin or anything....
But if getting "rocked" slightly ONE time in his whole career is all that's happened to his "chin", I'd say he's doing pretty well

Yeah, I'm a huge Silva fan, but he defintely got rocked a bit and his legs went out from under him. That was not being knocked off balance, that was getting your bell rung.

That doesn't count. He had sore ribs and Sonnen was roided up.

Not to take anything away from Sonnen, but he didn't like like the "regular" AS. I don't know if it was his ribs limiting his movement or Uncle Dana slapping his peepee from the Maia fight, but he had very little head movement compared to the fights before or since. Hell, I think he got hit more in that fight than EVERY other fight. Not trying to be an AS nuthugger, but that's just how I see it.

Except his *** never touches the mat from that punch, so you're sorely overexaggerating this moment. There's a f*cking gif YOU posted CLEARLY showing that! He gets hit, stumbles backwards a few steps, and uses his hand to keep his balance to STAY STANDING. Anderson's *** has never hit the floor from a punch, and Jak or whoever can try to overplay it all you want, but it's the damn truth, and I challenge you to find a gif of that happening.

ummmm as you highlighted it said "
pretty much
dropped on his ***".............without the hand silva would have been "completely on his ***"........so there is no over-exaggeration

There's no *** touching of the mat PERIOD. No "pretty much" or "completely", his feet never simultaneously left the mat, his *** never touched the floor, and he remained standing for awhile after. The only time Anderson was dropped on his *** is when Chael took him down, not by a punch.

pretty much
Almost, nearly
, approximately, as in Our homework was pretty much finished . This adverbial usage differs from the use of pretty for "considerable" (as in pretty penny). [c. 1800]

Nearly and almost definitely would work because they imply that while close, it did not happen. Pretty much implies that it did happen, which is clearly not the case.
