Anti-MMA Paradox
1. One school of thought says MMA is boring and all they do is roll around on the ground and "look sexual".
2. The other school of thought says MMA is barbaric and nothing but glorified bar fighting and guys slugging it out.
Do you see how these stereotypes are conflicting?

1. Yes I see how they are conflicting, but nobody on these boards holds these views, so I don't know why you are asking us.
2. They are only conflicting if both views are held by the same person. Just because some people stereotype MMA with option 1 and others with option 2 doesn't mean there is any hypocrisy.
but as a whole it's conflicting and that's what is important.
I'm asking because I get this a lot its either one or the other and I'm wondering if you guys get it too. A guy will come up to me and say its all brawling and no technique and then another guy will say its boring and no action.
If you go to the "wrong" local show, you will see two guys brawling with no technique in the first round and in the third round, you will see two lathargic guys laying on each other producing no action at all. That must be the experience with MMA that those people are basing their opinions on.
I haven't been in a real fight in quite a while, but the last time I was, I didn't think it was sexual at all, I kinda remember it hurt quite a bit and I was trying to hurt the other guy. My best guess is that all the cops in schools and political correctness and time outs and zero tolerance and whatnot make people forget that the two men fighting together have bad intentions.
I think it is kind of barbaric, much like rare steak, tequila, and old muscle cars, thats why I like it.. Not everything has to be like Walt Disney intended.

They're not always contradicting - can you say donkey punch?

Eh, no.
Person A doesn't like my buffalo wings because they aren't spicy enough. Person B doesn't like them because he doesn't like spicy food in general. Who cares...

Both of these are claimed as being truth but if 1 is true than 2 is not and vice versa. Hence paradox.

They are not truths, just opinions.

Well when you put it that way, I agree with you.

I think you maybe burned one that was just a little too big for one person
Your two schools of thought do exist, but so do the "It looks like wrestling", "it's not a sport", "It's for young people", "it's too expensive", "when does Hulk Hogan fight next" etc. schools of thought.
Different people perceive things differently, especially in something that is crashing onto the scene like this.
Your observation is clever (
) but you stopped short of the big picture.

^^This is an awesome new invention. Printed words that have the ability to cause you physical pain. I actually concentrated on this statement for about 30 seconds and my vision started to blur. Then I just became frustrated, angry and had the intense desire to kill the first living thing I saw even myself. This would be an awesome weapon for assassins. Lol
