I'm starting to get back into reefing.
I was into it years ago, and set up a 10G FOWLR about 6 months ago.
The itch has returned and needs to be scratched.
Setting up a nano 20G soon.
And I'll document it's progress here.
So, any of y'all fuckk with reefing?

I actually got into salt because my neighbor was dumping a RedSea years ago. He knew I had a ton of fresh tanks in the house at the time and asked if I wanted it. He had tried to get rid of it, to no avail. He was literally walking out of to the curb, fish and all, when I saw him. I took it in and was hooked. About 10 years ago I stopped fuckking with all tanks and set up a pond.
The pond is now gone, and there's a 29G freshie and the FOWLR.
The 10 will morph into the 20 and I'll probably clean up the 10 and set it up as a Betta tank in my classroom.

I'm going full low tech also.
HOB filters and basic lights.
Low maintenance corals like Pulsing Xenia, Zoa's, Mushrooms, Leathers...

That is awesome! I love that's how you got the tank.
Definitely do the betta tank in class. My 3rd grade teacher had a 20g community tank in class. It's what got me & my best friend into fish. We both still are.
Low tech is cool. It's limiting but liberating. More streamlined & less stress.

Saltwater aquarium that houses live hard & soft corals, mimicking a natural coral reef. Probably on the technical & artful side of the hobby. There's some really beautiful tanks out there.

I do not.
I don't even know what this "reefing" is, but I am going to definitely be following this thread as I sense a great opportunity to learn something new judging by all of the words being used I don't know.

I had a buddy really into this long time back, must be something to it. He sarcastically called it the gift that keeps on giving and complained about the time he invested in it but when I watched him doing his thing I could tell he f---in loved it. Some people find that inner peace and enjoyable alone time through gardening or potting indoor plants or something, but Jeff could be in his own world for hours f---ing with those fish tanks.
To be honest I was a little jealous bc my only hobby that lead to enjoyable alone time was drinking alcohol. I can't tell you how many bar fights I got into by myself in my apartment.

That's what they told me about the OTHER kind of "reefer" back in the day, and now it's my favorite thing.

This is a 20 gallon tall tank.
I'm painting the background black, for aesthetic purposes.
Helps hide some of the pumps, cords, etc.

And you're putting coral in it? Any fish? Or just coral?

I'm transferring over from a 10 gallon FOWLR (Fish Only With Live Rock) to a 20 with low light, "easy" corals.
I've got 2 Clowns and a Royal Gramma Basslet that will make the transfer. As well as a few hermits.
I'll need a more robust clean up crew after the transfer, but for now we're good.
