Yea and for some reason, even though Michael Wilbon knew that, I believe he was calling for Nadal to lose. I have no idea why, because on clay, hes somewhat of a beast...

I saw Wilbon on PTI say that too. I figured Nadal would win, but i thought Federer would atleast make a match of it. Getting smoked 6-1, 6-3, 6-0 was what shocked me.
I guess Federer will try to get his revenge in a couple weeks at WImbledon where he is just as dominant on grass as Nadal is on clay.

I think Djokovich(yeah i have no idea how to spell his name) and Murray have surpassed Federer for the #2 and #3 positions... But neither of them are consistent enough.

From this morning...
Moments after Djokovic and Delic had embraced at the net, smiled and waved to all parts of the crowd in Rod Laver Arena, water bottles and plastic chairs were hurled back and forth between the Bosnian and Serb fans who had been watching the match live on a big TV screen next to the arena.
One Bosnian girl was hit in the head and stumbled from the area on the arms of friends as police and security staff rushed to separate the rivals.
The loud, angry scuffle was over within two minutes, and police took many of the participants to another area for questioning.
"They started it. They threw the first chair and knocked our girl down and kept throwing things at her," one Bosnian man who would not identify himself said before he was taken away by a police officer.

See why I hate Serbian people? Not individuals just the race as a whole. Kosovo declares independence and they riot and loot their own capital Belgrade. Bosnia is a tiny tiny poor *** country and Serbian's are throwing chairs because they just can't admit anyone is better than them. Oh well, racist rant over. Sorry

I couldn't find another thread on this, but Roger Federer beat Raphael Nadal in straight sets on clay court!
Now....
here' my conspiracy theory. people were no longer tuning in to watch Federer/Nadal, because Nadal kept easily winning, so since Nadal was undefeated for years on clay court everybody assumed he would win, but by having Federer win and in straight sets no less, that they will be able to talk about this on all the major sports shows for the next week and once again be able to hype the rivalry between Nadal and Federer...
or not...

Hey guys, I am really into MMA right now, but the previous 3 years, I was a tennis nerd and got pretty good at it. Here's my take:
Federer is damn good. He is consistent, has an incredible 1 handed back hand (less control, but can get to the ball more quickly), a pretty good forehand, and an incredible serve. He has an arsenal of shots unlike other players, making use of topspin, slice, and flat shots. Also has the best footwork in tennis today.
Nadal is also damn good. He is also consistent, has a decent backhand, has the best forehand in tennis today (due to its impossible amount of topspin( adding forward spin to the ball, so once it bounces, it will jump faster, look it up)), and a good serve. He does not have the same arsenal as Federer, relying much more on his topspin than anything else. He is also one of the faster players.
So it seems like Federer is the better of the two, then why did he lose?
1. The biggest reason is the clay court. The ball bounces low and fast on clay courts, which when combined with his super topspin shots, the balls are lightening fast and hard to return. Also, Nadal has more experience on clay courts (all court types are very different, requiring different footwork and strategy).
2. Nadal is getting used to Federer. Sadly, Federer is a great and consistent player. However, Nadal is quick and smart enough to get used to Federer's style of play. This allows him to return all the balls that Federer hits, and Nadal is more comfortable playing with him.

I used for follow Björn Borg, Jimmy Connors, Martina Navratilova etc.
But some other players have certainly come afterward and upped the ante.

I must one-up thee.
Jankovic. love her.
She's always sucked at tennis but has always had one of the greatest bodies. Anna Kournikova.
However.. this girl takes the cake. My favorite Russian tennis player: elena Dementieva.
