I remember back in the 90s a League player from Australia called Ian Roberts came out and was supported by his team and most fans. This guy was one of the toughest and most ferocious players in whats probably the toughest sport on the planet that doesn't involve fighting, and when he came out a lot of people realised the old cliched belief that homosexual dudes are inherently weak or soft is simply false. He regularly smashed guys in the tackle and often threw a fist or two when the moment called for it.
But I feel like he's more of an exception than the rule. Maybe if it was an MMA guy who's an MMA version of Ian Roberts, in that he was very popular and respected for his toughness and attacking attitude - maybe a Dan Hardy or a Cain Velasquez or even a Hendo type fighter - he would still be held in high esteem, but for the most part I feel like MMA fans are probably too uptight to handle it.
Are there any famous homosexual dudes in American football or baseball or boxing?
