What is the most dramatic/traumatic sporting moment you were involved in (as a player, not spectator)?
My best day as an athlete happened when I was 9 or 10 years old. It also ended in disaster which should have told me a little something about my future athletic career. It was a little league baseball game and I was damn good when I was 10. I was on fire in this particular game... I was 3 for 3 (3 doubles) with 6 RBI going into the last inning where we were trailing 10-6. I get up with 2 outs in the bottom of the 6th, bases loaded, as the tying run. The crowd was going nuts (as nuts as you can get for a little league game). I drill the first pitch to dead center and thought I just hit a grand slam to tie the game but instead the ball hits the top of the fence. It cleared the bases to make it 10-9 but I, thinking I'm Ricky Henderson, decide now would be a great time to stretch this into a triple. I wasn't even half way to third base when the crowd went completely silent and I realized that the third baseman already had the ball. I was out by about 30 feet to end the game. I even had one of those weak-*** slides where you come up like 5 feet short because the 3rd baseman was so set for me. I started bawling there on the field like a big puss. LOL... my dad came over to try to console me with the 'You drove in 9 runs today! Every run your team scored! They would have lost 10-0 without you' routine but I wasn't having it. And that's how my most dramatic sporting day was also my most traumatic.
The day my organized sporting career ended was also rough... the day I tried out for my HS baseball team. I was a catcher and was doing well with the drills, then we had to bat and for some reason, I lost all ability to hit a baseball. I have no idea what happened... there were even guys I played little league with trying out for the team there that were trying to encourage me because they knew I was pretty good. But I could not even make contact this day. It got to the point where the coach pitching started throwing me meatballs/lobs to hit and I still couldn't hit it. Holy cow... what a choke job! Quite an embarrassing display.
I knew that was the end of my athletic career that day. I picked up the guitar about a week later and have never looked back.

Hahaha. I'm sure most of us dreamed about being a pro athlete at least one point in time during our lives. Then reality sets in
.
I was a 3 sport varsity athlete in high school (basketball, football, golf), though my high school wasn't very big. Probably 500 students total.
My best day in football was my freshman year, and it was actually an exhibition game against the varsity squad. I was on JV at the time. I played Will (weak side linebacker), and sacked the senior quarterback four times in the game. Two of them were blind side f*cking spears. I never felt like such a boss in all my life.
Basketball would probably be my senior year, first round of the state play-offs. Scored the first 12 points of the game, all 3's.
Golf, I took 3rd in state my senior year. Shot 75, 71.

I made it to the final man on my team in dodgeball, by hiding behind other more coordinated players.
I lost.

Here's a great random sporting moment in my life...
We used to play a lot of pick-up tackle football. When me and my cousin were on the same team we were lethal... he was a WR on his HS team and I could just throw the football great. He used to talk ENDLESS amounts of trash that used to drive everyone nuts. Eventually they made us split up everytime we played because it just wasn't fair, so he always wound up on the other team and now I was the one having to deal with his trash talk. He was faster and better than me so he usually won.
One game he was in rare form driving everyone nuts and I just couldn't take it anymore. We were kicking off and I specifically threw the ball to him (usually we'd try to keep it away from him). He started to do his left/right thing as he usually juked everyone around him but this time I squared him up and drilled him dead center in the chest while he was mid-juke. I have never to this day hit anyone harder in my life. I drove him into the ground and it took him a good 2 minutes to get up. It felt soooooo f'ing good. I think I concussed him though.... he was a bit out of it the rest of the day. Never had to listen to him talk trash again. Even years later he still brought up that hit.
Around that same time another friend tore his ACL playing... that's when we figured out we may be getting to big to be playing non-pad tackle football.

I can totally relate... I was a big nerd in grammer school and all the 'cool' kids used to gun the balls at us first. Well, actually the girls first, then us.

Yea it was, I was a big fan of Dupre and Iolo.
As far as sports?
Led my team to a Chicago CYO championship my sophmore year of high school. Won two "gold" league (highest league) intermural championships at Ohio State for basketball along with a co-ed intermural championship. Won 3 flag football championships, won the midwest region in flag football as a freshman in college (OSU paid for us to travel and compete, which was nice). Ended up 3rd in the midwest my junior year in flag football. Was a 2 year varsity track and field captain in high schoool, one year varsity football (my sophmore year), 2 year varsity cross country. Varsity club co-president (one guy and one girl are each presidents) my senior year of high school.

When I was 15 yo, my class' team got to the schools final match, against the seniors, all 18 yo.
They were huge compared to our team, crushed every other team (there were 2 teams per year) and cruised to the final match.
Right from kick off their best player carried the ball like a truck, putting everyone on their backs and scored.
before half time we scored from a corner kick, ball bouced back and forth and we got the goal.
Our midfielder missed a penalty kick minutes later.
the match went to overtime. no one scored.
our goal keeper was a beast at penalty kicks, they did not want it to end like this. on the 123rd minute (3 extra minutes of the second half of overtime) they had a corner, their goal keeper went to our box to pressure and have 10 players in the box and the 11th kicking the corner. our goalie caught the ball. I ran like my shoes were on fire and he threw me the ball. their goalie was running back, the ref was about to blow the whistle, I kicked it...
and the crowd went wild!! I scored, we won, we beat the big bullies, something never done before in our school.
to sum up:
I scored a goal on the 124th minute of a football (soccer
) match and won the championship

Hmm.....the best thing i can think of is in middle school baseball with our team down by 1 run i came to the plate and hit a double into center field. Then i ended up scoring after my teammate hit a single into right field thus winning us the game....Thats the first thing that comes to my mind.
