Chris Weidman won an unimpressive decision against Alessio Sakara around the same time Askren beat Hieron. ufc should cut him. i do agree that the ufc shouldn't sign him tho, he would take up a roster spot that could be used for the 4th place guy on tuf china

Maybe if GSP/Hendricks acts like a fool in the cage like Anderson did Askren will have a chance.

Anderson Silva lost to Daiju Takase, the ufc should cut him

Not really relevant. I just take that Weidman win with a grain of salt. Kudos to him and I was psyched for him but until the rematch I still say Anderson was a fool and that is mostly why he lost.

oh i agree, as strange as it sounds I'm actually even more confident that Silva wins the rematch after seeing the first fight
anyway back on topic Askren is 12-0 in mma and wrestled in the olympics but isn't good enough for the ufc because he beat a guy who was signed by the ufc after the fight. makes no sense, yeah its highly unlikely that he will hold a belt or even fight for one but he's clearly a ufc caliber fighter

I don't disagree with that. I think he can compete in the UFC WW division just fine. I also think the first time he fights a guy who has TDD and decent striking he is getting lit up like Clark Griswold's house at Christmas.
Honestly I fully expect to see Askren in the ufc after they play the game a bit. I mostly think this is a ploy to get the asking money to drop a bit. Now where will he stack up, that is a different question, but one I fully expect to be answered at some point in the future.

Lima and Koreshkov both have solid tdd, but I agree elite wrestlers who can also strike will beat him, although if he managed to avoid the power shot against Hendricks I think he could beat him in a 5 rounder. I think he can beat guys like Condit though

They could offer him an 8000/8000 contract and he would take it, he's fine financially without fighting he doesn't care about that. If they're trying to do that they are just wasting time
as far as Dana stating he's not interested, part of it is not so much Bellator vs UFC, but both playing off of each other so that who ever does sign Askren does so at a much cheaper price than if it was both wanting him. they're bringing his market value down. Roufus talked about it
think the best thing dana did was not sign him, just for the reason being if Askren even slips into the top 5 of the WW division Bellator will go on to say told you he could beat the best in the UFC he was our champion blah blah blah, Never have I saw an MMA org release its champion then say he's too one dimensional. Since Viacom bought Bellator they must of fired their PR `department because how they handle public affairs is just insane

I don't think that's true. If that does happen, I'll gladly eat my words. I get the vibe from Askren that it's more about making as much money as possible to support his family. I think all this talk by Dana is for negotiation purposes. Askren does belong in the UFC skill-wise, but not as much as he says (which is why Hieron gets brought up over and over again). If he was willing to take 8k/8k, I believe he'd be signed. Even I think he's worth more than that, I'm sure Askren thinks he's worth way more than that.
I think your right. Dana is scared he will eat his words because he has been too vocal. Bens style and level of talent is very hard for people to deal with. Also very boring and we all know the UFC cares more about Entertainment value than who is really the best. Not saying Ben would be the new UFC WW Champion because I don't think he would, but I do believe he would be in the Top 5.

Not to the people that hand out the contracts. At least at the moment.
