In the past 7 days the top 2 ranked LWs have lost, one decisively and one not so decisively. With this shake up in the division I wanted to take the pulse of the Junkies. I vote B.J. cause I really don't think Edgar beat him and what he has done over the past 2 years is undeniable. So who do you think is the best LW on the planet? Vote and make your case.
Where's "none of the above" ... BJ is unreliable. Melendez, who knows. Aoki looked like a child out there tonight. Was that because Melendez is so good or because Aoki was so incredibly overrated?
I kind of like Kenny. Good work ethic. Knife-like elbows. Good attitude. But the best?
The whole division is a mess right now.

This is really hard to choose, maynard is not #1, florian not number 1, i still think bj is the best LW fighter in the world... I tend to look at these things like this, if there was a tournament, who would win... I would say BJ... I am bias tho because he is my fav fighter... Now I know he just lost to Edgar, and i am a big edgar fan as well, but the fact is that fight could have been scored either way.. and not 50-45... I do think edgar did edge out a decision, but from what i hear, BJ had a knee injury and a sinus infection... Here is what i would like to see... I am not a huge fan of immediate rematches, but i think edgar penn 2 is warranted and let kenny and maynard fight for the #1 contender spot... The way bj has dominated the LW division he deserves a rematch...

I don't think Aoki can take any of the top guys in the UFC - particularly anybody with a wrestling background. He's too small, gets bullied around, has no striking and can't get them to the ground unless they willingly go into his guard. That isn't a recipe for wins...
Let's not fool our selves here. Gil is good but he beat a dude that looks like a flyweight. Aoki is good at Bjj... That's it.

If by notable you mean fighters out of 3rd rate organizations. He lost to sakurai. I gave Gil # 5. I think he is a really really good fighter. But all of these Japanese fighters get sooo overrated. Then when they step in with Americans they wooped. And yes, I am aware that japanese fighters have beat americans.
IE Gomi, he was ranked number one forever then a UFC throw away (Diaz) stepped in and subbed him Aoki will stay in the rankings for as long as he fights in Japan.
So, now that Melendez won got me thinking about who would be next for him...... then I started thinking about Dream guys....
then I started thinking WAR Katsunori KIKUNO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
