Edgar over Penn.
Penn has shown improved cardio, great takedown defense, great takedowns, and superior striking at LW. He got outboxed by an undersized LW that was very much beatable. He looked terrible in that fight, unlike the BJ we've come to know. Nevertheless, I still think BJ took the first three rounds and should have won the decision.
Hathaway vs Sanchez is a close second for me. That fight was just brutal and completely unexpected.
Penn vs. Edgar.
Fedor had not fought a guy with a decent guard since 2004. I actually picked Werdum to submit Fedor(not in the fashion that it occured however.), just because he and M-1 were overlooking Werdum so much to the PPV title fight with Overeem.
But I was not sure pre-fight that Edgar belonged in the same cage. But he proved otherwise that night.
Manny Gamburyan over Mike Brown shocked the hell out of me. But I really do not know if it was the upset of the year.
Frankies underrated.I always knew who he was.Hes only lost once to a much bigger wrestler.I had faith in edgar that he could.But i really didnt expect him to do that.Still when Edgar vs Penn II comes,That Belt aint changing hands.Edgars much much faster then Penn,better cardio.It will come into play again
Werdum over Fedor, Lets face it others fight ppl on their level, Fedor fights guys who are 10 spots lover than him or even more, and he got beat, there is nothing special that #2 beats #1 occasionally but hey number #25 beating #3 or something, that is special..

Werdum beat a guy that hadn't lost in 10 years, if thats not the biggest upset then I dont know what is

It's got to be BJ vs Edgar. Werdum is a more accomplished grappler than Fedor, whereas besides wrestling, there was not one skill I thought Frankie could best BJ at.

Really, more "they think he's god" comments :roll: Because someone sees a fighter as a significant favorite doesn't mean they think he's a god.

According to the betting books, Fabricio/Fedor was the biggest upset this year, so far. To say "I knew he would lose so that isn't an upset", if you knew he was gonna lose then you put a healthy amount of doe on the fight and according to the books, big *** upset.
I think the next one will be either Sonnen/Silva or Jones/Matyushenko.
