Billy Evangelista in no way lost that fight the knee was not illegal at all Mika Aina should retire and find a new profession he clearly is not a 'fighter' this was not a Okami vs Anderson where Anderson blasted Okami with an illegal blow, Aina was not even hit and showed some sorry acting skills. Having a loss on your record even if the public does not count it as such has got to suck! Im pretty sure this would be turned into a no contest rather easily i mean seriously there is no way they cant the video proof is there.

Mike Aina/Strikeforce "WIN"
I can't believe this topic hasn't been started yet.
If yall are wondering why I put "Win" in parenthesis, it's because I don't think he deserves the win. He CLAIMED he got kneed in the head while he was down, and that he thought his jaw was broken. Well, he was down, and he DID get kneed, but it clearly hit him in the shoulder!!!! His LEFT SHOULDER no less. During his post fight interview he was favoring the right side of his jaw. Man, this guy should completely give up MMA and take up acting....or basketball. Regardless, if nobody saw the fight, yall should look up that controversal knee. What a waste, I feel bad for Billy Evangalista. He was beating Aina, obviously, so Aina went for the easy out.
Such a blatant, classless, display from Aina. BOO THIS MAN!!!!!!! :x :x

Some people still think Varner was not kneed in the head.
Are you f---ing serious, that knee Varner took almost cost him his career. Some people have no ability to look at an illegal blow. The Varner knee was beyond an obvious call.

I won't argue that it was not a serious injury. If I remember correctly, they thought he might have had a detached retina (which would be a career-ending injury) but luckily that wasn't the case. As far as the attack itself, I thought it was legal at the time Cerrone threw the knee, but illegal by the time it landed.

Re: Mike Aina/Strikeforce "WIN"
In fairness they won't hold it against Evangalista, it's like Irvin/Cane... he might have a win on fight finder, but nobody includes it.

Re: Mike Aina/Strikeforce "WIN"
at least that one was somewhat legit watching this fights video just makes me wish knee to a downed opponent should be a new rule added in anyone else agree?

I agree with knees to the head. won't happen, but i definitely agree they should be allowed.

Re: Mike Aina/Strikeforce "WIN"
While I do agree knees should be allowed the force that Cane hit Irvin with the knee was a bunch of bs. It was literally a love tap/graze. Compare it to Marquardt .vs. Leites.
They should be allowed in my opinion, MMA should be a fight where you should be able to inflict any type of strike anywhere except the groin and eye gouges...

This kind of tactic by Aina may work and even condoned in soccer, but in MMA, he will be burned at the stake  . To make matters worst, Aina is part of the BJ entourage....This is definitely going to reflect badly on their camp.
Benji radach, BJ penn, Mike Aina, and Khalib Starnes are definitely on my boycott list...they definitely don't deserve my support (not a dime from my paycheck) and from their display in the ring and after a fight, they definitely have no respect for the fans or themselves.

This was the armpit/shoulder. BS call by Herb Dean and Aina don't know if he was acting or not, I won't assume anything on that.
Who was winning the fight up until the end? I only saw the gif of this DQ and the picture and it clearly shows no knee to the head. That will tell if Aina was acting or not.

The CSAC isn't going to overturn the ruling. The doctor make a call that in his professional opionion Aina had a broken jaw. It turns out he was in fact wrong but we can't start second guessing doctors. The ruling is what it is, it's not the best ruling in the world but it will stand.
If anthony Johnson couldn't get his eye poke loss overturned than there is no way this is getting overturned.
This is just the nature of MMA, things like this happen and will continue to happen from time to time. The best way to resolve what happened last night is to just have a rematch.

Re: Mike Aina/Strikeforce "WIN"
It's an interesting arguement, people who argue that elbows should be disallowed due to that they never ko anyone would never agree that kness to the head should be allowed on a downed opponent. I agree with the rule. A single knee to the head of a downed opponent will generally end a fight no matter who you are.
However once again, sports in general, there is no reason why they didn't go to the video and say, dude you might have a broken jaw, but it ain't from the knee. So we'll stop the fight but you will lose. If the guy thought he had a broken jaw then so be it, but clearly it was inflicted during the gnp and not the knee to the shoulder.

the First round was pretty close, But Evangelista was kicking the s--- out of Aina in the second round. He had him in a real bad position and was smashing him. Aina, might of had a broken jaw, not from the knee but from the beating he was catching before hand.
I think Herb knew Ania was faking in the Post fight interview. but thats just my opinion.

I agree with everything you said mostly the part about the lack of integrity by Aina , that being said you can't question the authority of the ref , it would open a pandoras box of sniviling & whining every time a fighter didn't get what they wanted. This isn't the NFL.Herb Dean is a very good ref, he just made a mistake. It's spilt milk now. I say rematch!!!!

^^^This happened in Vegas. Evangelista/Aina was in Cali. Different commissions, different views, different rulings. Commissions often times have different views on how things should be done and always try to set a precedent as to how it should be done in there eyes. IF they disagreed with how NSAC handled it then they CSAC might over turn it just to set a way.
