I was hoping Penn would move back down to lightweight. Penn vs. Pettis or Melendez seem like fun fights.

BJ takes this one. Koscheck gets deducted 3 points. One for eye pokes, one for fence grabs and a third for faking a knee.

My guess... tough talk leading up to the fight about how it's gonna be a war, both fighters striking getting hyped and how they're gonna get back to what they're used to and will end up being stalled action fight.

Penn is just above average at 170. Koscheck will smash him, make him quit.

Did you just say Penn and quit in the same breath? Penn took the belt from Hughes at 170. Fought Diaz in a war. Went the distance and messed gsps face up. Nearly decisioned Fitch. I would say Penn deserves more respect than "just above average" and name me a time when Penn ever quit.

Bj Penn is one of my favourite fighters of all time and Josh Koscheck is one of my least favourite people of all time. But I'm gonna be realistic here and say that Bj has zero chance against Josh, and I for one would never want to see this matchup happen. How many more times are we going to hear talk of Penn facing another bigger wrestler out of his weight class.I would-love to know how people think he's gonna beat Josh.Submission(nope,Josh never gets submitted)Keeping it standing and knocking him out standing(nope, not without getting taken down first)
It's amazing that Penn keeps on getting paired against bigger dominant wrestlers that could easily grapple f--- him to death.

All I can say is that if Penn wins this, I'm knocking down shots in celebration. If Penn loses then I'm going to drown my sorrows by knock down some shots.

Penn needs to join the stacked lw division.

Penns last fight wasn't against a big strong wrestler. Unless you consider Diaz that type of fighter lol. But you gotta admit that penns willingness to fight the best is impressive. He doesn't back down against these guys. Also, penn nearly beat Fitch at his own game so who knows what penn has up his sleeve. Koscheck is right up there with Fitch and gsp in the wrestling dept. So penn is in for a long night.

If Penn was in any kind of shape I think he would of been able to compete better with Diaz.I was referring to the wrestlers GSP and Fitch(you knew what I f---ing meant lol).He still done good against Diaz and Fitch but I still wouldn't look forward to seeing fight these huge guys and in a division with the likes of Ellenberger,Hendricks,Koscheck and GSP,not to mention better step omers like Condit and Kampman who can use better footwork against him..
Penns chin and heart is amazing but still would love him to drop down, and I bet he hopes Edgar gets beat so he can drop down and see if Penn can beat them guys where I think he has a very good chance of beating IMO..

I know, everyone deep down inside wants Penn vs Melendez, Bendo, Alvarez etc. But penns lazyness to cut weight at this point in his career is giving us the middle finger. So I think danas way of saying FU back is offering him Koscheck. It'll still be an interesting fight and could be exciting if Penn stuffs a few and hurts kos with his hands.

He does deserve more respect that just above average. He's more than above average. But quitting and Penn does belong in the same breath.

Koscheck is far too big. He's got a great power double, and he'll rough Penn up in the clinch before taking him down.

Penn is unmotivated, out of shape, and has a crap training camp.

Regarding the unmotivated part, how can you possibly know that? He's had quite a while out from the sport now & for all we know he's got his fire back.

Explain. Because I can't recall penn ever quitting in a fight. Penn, to me at least, how always epitomized warrior spirit. (And dont mention Penn's corner throwing in the towel because that's not on Penn himself)

Penn never objected, seemed upset or even acted disappointed when his corner threw in the towel so he may not have said I quit but his actions say other wise

Unless Penn shows up like hes on Steroids like everyone else... Hes going to get worked by the Cardio... Jon Fitch even said he would have him differently again if he were to again. GSP finished him in 4 rounds. Im guessing this would be a 3 round fight and Koscheck coming off this loss is not going to be too friendly in fighting to the opponets gameplan.... I think Kos would shoot asap and make this fight look alot like Daley Vs Kos... He might stand with Penn in the 3rd because Penn will be completley Done....

It'll be interesting to see if Penn takes this fight. FRB says he's got from "good authority" that Penn won't accept it.
