Is it just me that thinks this fight makes a lot of sense? Both coming off good wins but not against high ranking opponents (although some people had Hughes ranked quite high). A win would put either fighter in title contention, and it could be a great battle.
Thoughts?

It'd be awesome. Penn hasn't ever had to deal with brutal leg kicks like that before, which could be an issue with his boxing stance. They'd get into some fierce exchanges. Could be a great fight, certainly more exciting than BJ-Fitch imo.

If ALves can come in with speed then he can win but if he decides to freeze and exchange its good night for ALves. It doesnt take much for BJ to capitalize

To the OP you can debate this hypothetical fight all you want but these are my two favorite fighters and I already had Joe Silva and Dana White promise me that they would never fight.

Losing to GSP and Jon Fitch (after a year layoff) really is terrible....... Alves' rank should have dropped do to lack of participation but prior to that he deserved his rank.
Overrated is BJ Penn in the eyes of Penn fanboys.....
