BJJ has still ruled over the MMA world since 1995. But it's welcoming to see some devastating submissions once again.
Brock's submission just wowed me.

His training showed. I have said, if he can learn submissions, it is just making him THAT much more dangerous. And guess what ladies and gents, he is learning. And applying.

Agreed. He laid the groundwork for the arm-triangle in half guard. Improved to full mount. Finished the technique, moved to side and torqued until carwin said uncle.
Position before submission, and Brock didn't rush it. The fact that he didn't burn himself out trying to finish the submission from an inferior position shows his fight intelligience.

He might as well have subbed a training dummy. Carwin offered no resistance.
I wonder if he'll get a black belt sometime this week.

His superior wrestling was the difference...the jiu jitsu finish was just the capper. Carwin looked lost when Brock took him down and quickly moved to mount.
Brocks conditioning was also great for a man that was very sick 9 months ago. He didnt look as "soft" as we've seen him in the past.

His training did show but I wouldn't get too enthusiastic as to his application. When a guy is totally gassed - like Carwin was - you can dominate them on the ground with ease. I've had it happen to me and I've done it to guys who were far more experienced than me. When there is no resistance the submission is easy (as is the pass.)
The most impressive thing is that Lesnar
thought
of going for the sub instead of raining down ground and pound. I'm guessing he was hurt/tired as well and thought that posturing up would likely lead to him getting bucked off. It was a smart tactic and does show how Lesnar is growing as a fighter. Unlike Carwin he kept his head and made the smart play when he had his opponent on in trouble.

It was great to see Brock use a submission.....but damn Carwin was just laying flat on his back doing nothing. I could have probably chocked out carwin.

Brocks arm triangle was shocking. He set that up beatifully. Carwin had no idea that was coming.

Carwin was so gassed Brock could have told him it was comming and he still wouldn't have been able to do anything about it.
Leben's triangle was very well set up but Akiyama had nothing left to start the 3 round.

Lytle should have been submission of the night. Far more impressive overall submission if you ask me.

I agree he should have won, but they were both great subs with great transitions to get into position for the subs. You knew when Brock pulled his sub off it was sub of the night though.

superior what?? brock spent half of the 1erst round on his back eating punches, the rest of it pushing carwin against the cage.... in the second round, carwin was totally gassed and brock took him down, he didnt even shoot for it, he literaly and slowly grabbed both of carwins legs and took him down, that superior wrestling???? then the sub came pretty fast. It was a very nice execution from brock.

That take down that he hit was fast. He changed levels very fast. He did a very nice job. The mount to side control was slick for his size. The submission came out of nowhere. It makes me wonder if Carwin even trains bad positions. Brock was 3 or 4 moves ahead of Carwin on the ground. Just worked him.
