I figured almost everyone picked Tibau so that would have caused less problems. But for people like you who picked Guillard AND Garcia, that must have been extra infuriating.
I can't be too mad, though, I won a fight because someone got an unfair decision over Ed Herman on a UFN, can't even remember who it was.
Yeah it happens. I picked Stevenson and Garcia who were both underdogs and not safe picks but I'm still happy I had the balls to pick who I felt were better fighters and not just play it safe. In FF, you can make smarter or more well informed picks than your opponent and still lose. Not saying that's what happened to me, just in general don't beat yourself up over the outcome if your pick was based on solid facts and observations.

On another note, I don't see how Stevenson was the underdog in that fight. I was pretty confident in Stevenson on that one. Given that Guida was largely able to control Diaz, I figured it would be a cakewalk for Joe to do the same thing. That fight went exactly how I thought it would. Stevenson's just way too strong for Diaz.

no no no see I picked Tibau and Garcia
My opponent picked Guillard and Blackburn. 37 point swing in his favor cuz of those decisions.
But he should get his props too. He picked Wilks and top locked Joe Daddy. Can any one else make that claim?
I was just pissed to see my 9 lock (Tibau) lose a BS decision.
Btw, it was Belcher who got the nod over Herman. I thought Herman won too but I think it was far from a BS decision. That fight was close as hell if I remember correctly.

Absolutely, I think Guida exposed that while Diaz may be talented he lacks the ability to control the fight. He can't create space when he needs it.
Just watched the fight and personally i had it 29-28 Blackburn but really could have went either way. Only clear cut round was the second which should have went to Blackburn. Not a bad decision at all and not the robbery some sites made it out to be. Junkie play by play was really bad for that fight no way could you give the second to Garcia was totally one sided for Blackburn.
I dont see what the fuss was over the Sanchez/Guida decision. Sanchez won the first and mightve gotten a 10-8 ... Guida won the 2nd and all though Guida was on top some of the 3rd Sanchez worked for a couple subs which counts and won the stand-up exchange in the beginning of the round. I had it Sanchez 29-28(didnt see the 1st as 10-8). I missed the rest of the card due to it not bieng shown in Korea so i hunted for it on Justin.tv ... missed the Tibau fight but wow cant believe it even made it outta the 1st was thinking either 1st round sub for Tibau or 1st round KTFO for Melvin.

how did you not see that round as 10-8? he BEAT his *** with uppercuts, had him out cold for a sec with the head kick. guida mounted ZERO offence and was almost finished a number of times. that is the very definition of a 10-8 round. well...a few of the rounds (3 and 4) of BJ/GSP may have been 10-8

Well then it looks like I have nothing to b---- about.
Junkie did mention that although they scored it 30-27 Garcia, it was much closer than the score would indicate.
Kind of puzzling that the fans were so pissed about it though. Was Garcia a local or something?
I picked Garcia and I publically apologize to Dre if my analysis that I sent out factored into your decision making.
I really thought Blackburn was getting far too much credit for his victory over Chonan (Chonan is on the last legs of his career in my opinion, at least UFC career), and I thought Garcia was getting far too little credit for his victory over Miura.
I thought it would be a war, but I had Garcia going in based on what I thought was better technical striking on his part. Just ended up being on the wrong side of the coin flip.
just watching the Tibau-Guillard fight and I'm not as appalled as I was before
Round 1
Guillard lands the more significant strikes, but no real damaging punches, one deep body kick. Tibau got his shot stuffed twice, Melvin got back up easily on the next two weak takedowns. Tibau scooped Guillard up and tried to slam him hard, but Melvin did a good job of avoiding the big slam and although Tibau had him down for like 20 seconds, he did no damage and then Guillard flipped him head over heels and got back up. Nothing happened to close the round. I honestly didn't see a winnner in that round.
Round 2
Tibau clinches for the first minute and a half without any luck before Melvin tossed Gleison over his head and backs away. Leg kick and a few punches from Melvin answered by a few punches from Tibau before Tibau clinches again. Melvin botches a throw and ends up on the ground, but quickly gets back up. Hard straight right from Melvin and a solid body kick. Circling before Tibau lands two solid lunging jabs and gets a weak takedown against the fence. Weak GnP to finish the round. Again, very close, nothing significant here.
Round 3
Two solid rights from Melvin before Tibau lands a nice left. Melvin answers with a solid body kick, but Tibau catches it and takes him down. From there it's domination from Tibau the rest of the round, but he doesn't really do any damage or get any close submissions, but still definately Tibau's round.
You can really make an argument that either guy won the first two rounds as neither did anything significant. Tibau got a few takedowns, but most of them were weak and he did no damage at all and Melvin got right back up every time. Melvin landed the more significant strikes, but they didn't really do much damage either.

I knew nothing about either fighter and you weren't the only one who was high on Garcia. That's the way the cookie crumbles sometimes.

yeah i was watching it again last night and i'd have given the first two to guillard, based on getting the better (marginally) of the striking and more or less nullifying tibau's TD/ground game

I think it may have been because Garcia was throwing heavier shots but they were not really connecting whereas Blackburn was fighting on the counter and landing more jabs as opposed to heavier shots. So i think the crowd may have been swayed by the heavier shots and may not have been able to tell that Garcia was not landing as effectively as Blackburn who was managing to land good jabs, kicks and being able to stay out of range for most of Garcia's big shots.
