UFC officials, as well as those close to Lesnar, indicated that Frank Mir, with whom Lesnar has split two fights, is his next likely opponent. The fight makes sense. Mir is coming off a knockout win over Mirko Filipovic on Sept. 25, and he has been Lesnar’s biggest career rival, with insults between the two going back and forth dating back nearly three years.
Lesnar vs. Mir III is almost guaranteed to be a huge fight, given that Mir is an expert of hyping a fight, but also, legitimately, Mir doesn’t like Lesnar, feeling Lesnar disrespected him after beating him at UFC 100. The match would likely be as big or bigger than any championship match that UFC could promote right now.
Their first match was a huge success on pay-per-view. Their second, which Lesnar won via second round TKO, was at the time the biggest match in mixed martial arts history, going by public interest.
The winner of that fight would be right back in championship contention.
In related news. new UFC Heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez expected back in the gym soon to begin preparation for Junior Dos Santos. AKA head trainer Javier Mendez said that he’d give Velasquez one or two weeks off to celebrate his win, but he wanted him back in the gym because Dos Santos is a completely different fighter and poses different problems.
Among the fighters under UFC contract, the other two key contenders right now would be Shane Carwin and Roy Nelson, who meet on Jan. 1 in Las Vegas.

Possibly. But Brendan Schaub called out Frank Mir and I think that fight makes a little more sense.

Totally goes against UFC matchmaking. They pit losers against each other and winners against each other. Lesnar's next fight is most likely Gabe Gonzaga from a typical UFC matchmaking standpoint.

This definitely makes the most sense, Mir is the only fight Brock could headline a PPV against right now, of course this is what they'll do. Maybe the return trip to Australia that's rumored to be in late February.
(If anyone wonders why this is my first post on the Junkie forums, it's because I'm eventually phasing myself out of the Sherdog forums. So many idiots there. I had an account with ~2000 posts there.)

Not always do they do that cuz it doesnt always make sense. Lesnar goes from being the #1 HW and the champ to fighting Gonzaga?? Thats a HUGE step down the ladder considering Mir and Schaub are available. And im sure he wouldnt mind waiting a few months and taking on the loser of Carwin vs Nelso either. Gonzaga losing means we should see Gonzaga vs Rothwell, thats a bit closer in rankings

Maybe its just me, but I think Brock would do the same as he did him the second time around. Unless Mir goes for a flying heel hook, maybe thatll work. . . -_-

Hes definitely not fighting Gabriel Gonzaga. Whenever a champion loses they face a very relevent fighter their next time around. Machida ain't fighting Luiz Cane at UFC 123, he's fighting Rampage Jackson.

Lesnar vs. Mir III would do bigger numbers than any other fight they could put together at this point. Sorry hard-core MMA fans, the casual fans will win out on this one. It's all about the bucks $$$. Brock and Frank hate each other, both can hype fights, and there is a rubber match on the line. It will happen.

I say give Brock..Kongo...Get him some confidence going..That would probably be Kongo's last fight.
Give Mir Shaub. Then after that.. we can see Mir/Lesnar 3. I think Lesnar is two fights away from a title shot. Maybe 1 for Mir. Maybe 2 for Carwin. We still got JDS/Velsaquez, don't know what will happen after that fight. Fedor got one more fight with Strikeforce.
