If Cain ends up in his guard it's interesting. Other than that Cain destroys him

Same shoulder?
U
FC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez had one MRI on his left shoulder and is going to get another in order to determine if he needs surgery, his manager, Bob Cook told Yahoo Sports.
A Spanish-language web site reported Wednesday that Velasquez would defend his belt in the main event of UFC 172 in Mexico City on either April 19 or April 26 against Fabricio Werdum. UFC president
Dana White told Yahoo Wednesday that is not true
and that Velasquez's injury will delay any foray into Mexico

Hitting JDS that many times in the face is bad on the shoulder apparently.

Werdum may be Cain's toughest test, style wise.

Lol he'll either flop to his back and beg cain to follow or he'll get mauled on the feet

I could easily see Cain jumping into the guard, hoping to GNP his way to victory.

why? cain fights smart he didn't strike with JDS at range, he struck with nog, he out wrestled kongo, what makes you think he'll come into this fight thinkin he has something to prove in the grappling department? if anything, he'll use his wrestling to avoid the ground game.

I just dont see Cain waiving Werdum to get back up, he has too much confidence in his skills to not go to the ground with Werdum.

Almost a year since Werdums last fight. I don't think he stands a chance. I think to beat Cain you're going to have to get it done in the feet and Werdum isn't going to be the guy to do that.

My thoughts exactly and Cain will be training to avoid that.

In my mind Cain is a 2 to 1 overdog. I wouldn't be overly surprised if Werdum submits Cain. His muay thai has massly improved over the years and we know he has the best jiu jitsu in the heavyweight division. So he's a real dangerous task at hand for Cain.

I see Cain winning this convincingly, Although what happens if and when he does? They are going to start to struggle to find opponents for him

Browne/Barnett...that's about it as of today, especially since DC is a wuss in terms of fighting him. Cain/JDS are just on different levels than everyone else, it's basically the Silva/Jones issue from a few years ago. Divisions look weak when the top guys are so far ahead.

Great fight. This is the matchup I've been most interested in.

The division is thin at the moment, but situations change and Cain has enough opponents lining up over the near term... The guy that may struggle to find meaningful opponents is JDS...

Hopefully Cain doesn't have to have surgery on that shoulder.
