Well, just when I thought Chael Sonnen had managed to pull himself out of the muck and the mire it looks like there is more bad news. MMAweekly is reporting, "UFC middleweight Chael Sonnen will not be meeting with the Nevada State Athletic Commission in May as originally planned. He instead finds himself under suspension again in California and will appear before the state’s athletic commission next week to appeal its recent decision."
The administrative suspension was based on two factors, "“One, his pleading guilty to his felony conviction up in Oregon, as well as possibly providing false testimony during his hearing back in December.”
If Chael had decided to tell the truth to the commission that might have helped. However, potentially lying to the commission about his conversations with NSAC regarding his use of PEDs obviously didn't sit well with them.
It might be a long time before Chael makes it back in the octagon. Although it might be against his nature, the fastest path for him is probably telling the truth...

I am not a fan of his, but it really seems to me like they are trying to stop him from fighting.
I wonder if this has anything to do with his political affiliations? I can see them being angry about what he may or may have not said to them, but the man did serve his time. And all the BS with the NSAC is just what it seems to be BS. Could he not fight in a different state? Why does he have to be on a card that is in Nevada or Cali.... He is not longer under suspension from the UFC correct?
I guess this means he will not be a coach on the next TUF......

This seems like a bunch of BS. First they suspend him, then they reduce the suspension, then they suspend him again. If Kizer thinks Sonnen lied to the CSAC, Kizer should have a hearing into it. He shouldn't simply be able to have the CSAC suspend Sonnen. I doubt the felony conviction has anything to do with his new suspension.

^^I doubt it has anything to do with politics.

I think the problem with fighting in a different state is that the state commissioners often honor the suspensions levied by other states. I also don't think the UFC wants to set a precedent of state shopping for fighters that have been suspended. I think if Chael had been more contrite things would have worked out differently for him.
He needs to stop parsing the truth and just simply admit he lied and ask for forgiveness -- and promise to stop lying and bending the rules in the future. Rather than saying it was his manager who heard it or some other excuse (i.e., just trying to help out a friend with a mortgage).
He's in his mid 30s so these long layoffs could be career ending.

He's a terrible, shady person. Thief, liar, cheater, and trash-talker who insults entire races.
He's paying the consequences for his actions. That's how life works. He's lucky he's not in prison.

Then what about Josh Barnett isn't he banned in Cali right now.. For life? He is going to fight in Texas...
I am not trying to defend him in any way...
He is a politician, they never admit they are wrong, its bad for business.... Wasn't it the Ron Kruck interview on inside MMA where he called AS a cheater. It went something like this.
watch from 2:05

Just like a politician say something, get asked about what you just said.... "I didn't say it that way, lets talk about something else."
I just don't like the idea of him getting jerked around for reasons that don't seem to make sense... If they said they need another hearing because he is a convicted felon, then why now is this just coming to light. The CSAC new he was under investigation, I just don't buy what they are selling about him..... Let the man fight, there are worse people then him in the cage.

CSAC Suspends Sonnen’s License Once Again
And the saga continues…
The CSAC is not ignorant or blind when it comes to their athletes licensed in the state of California.
With ongoing legal and licensing issues, the one-time middleweight contender finds himself once again in hot water with the California State Athletic Commission.
The CSAC has this time suspended the fighter’s license indefinitely for his recent conviction of federal money laundering and providing false testimony during his appeal hearing last December.
Team Sonnen plans on appealing the suspension once again and has been placed on the May 18 agenda in front of the CSAC’s review board.
CSAC Executive Director George Dodd told MMAjunkie.com
"The commission wants to review his testimony, and they felt they need to suspend his license because they felt there was some false testimony given to the athletic commission when he appeared back in December," Dodd said. "That way Chael can come explain himself. Obviously, there were comments made during that commission meeting that have come up to be false, and so we're going to review those, as well."
"His license in California will be suspended until the commission feels he's provided rehabilitation, or whatever the commission feels that needs to be done in order to re-grant his license," Dodd said.

I agree 100 % he is very lucky he is not in prison. Im supprised the UFC is still interested. I could care less to see Sonnen fight ever again. The guy is a criminal.. Just because he was on roids and had a good showing against A.S with a broken rib does not make him a good fighter IMO. He won't be the same without roids period!! Can't wait till this guy fades away!

All you guys are jumping all over Chael for Roids, but if you knew the actual list of all the fighters that have taken and are taking steroids atm, you wouldnt have any favorite fighters. How many times has he got caught with Roids, and you say he is nothing without roids?, He beat alot of fighters when he passed ped test.
Laundering... Lets see. Any of you have any friends that smoke pot?, Well most likely they have a dealer, and hes a likeable guy... Thats laundering money...
Im not sure how he exactly Laundered money, and I wouldnt mind finding out, but im not going to jump on a guy that everyone else jumps on.
When it comes to sports figures that do roids, I dont have a problem with it, it just means he wasnt smart enough to get the ones that dont show up.
As far as Asilva having busted ribs, that is a myth... Believe word of mouth after the fight is already over... Sure my dad walked 5 miles to school, but the legend is 50 miles...
Stay open-minded whenever you believe hype. The door may swing both ways, and sometimes it hits your side as well.
He is lucky hes not in jail, but there are a million other people that have done much worse that isnt in jail. Also money talks and if he did launder money im sure he has to pay a price to someone.
Everyone gets there punishment, I think. We just need to worry about our own, judging is gods job.

I really couldn't care one way or the other anymore. I used to support Sonnen and loved his fights, and I thought most of what he was saying was dark humor to hype his fighting career, but it looks more and more like he's just a sleaze ball.
