Just yesterday (Sept. 7th), it was announced that two of the top middleweights in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), Chris Weidman and Tim Boetsch, would be squaring off at UFC 155 on Dec. 29, 2012, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The news was pretty big, and it's clear that there are major title implications for the bout.
However, while the mixed martial arts (MMA) world was abuzz talking about the new match-up, Weidman was undergoing elbow surgery in South Dakota. The rising superstar has had a nagging injury in his left elbow for about two and a half years, and it was finally cleaned up and cleared up. Whether or not this injury has had an affect on his recent training and performance is unclear, but it's good that he won't need to worry about it any more.
Weidman should be able to train cardio within a week and be back to full strength in about three to six weeks. Being that these bone spurs have bothered him for some time, he felt that now would be the best time to have it attended to.

My friend who does powerlifting had exactly the same problem and had surgery this year after years of bone spurs on the elbow..I thought I had the same, but glad I'm awaiting keyhole surgery for the removal of floating cartilage on it instead..Chris will be fine..My friend was training after extensive Physio within a few weeks and Chris will have better specialists to aid his recovery, so will be fine..His takedowns might be even better and more powerful from it..
