cocky or not cocky

i disagree. besides fighting on national television, this was a rare personal moment in his young career. he was trying to play along with rampage but hell, he's only 24. there's pressure to sound like a confident champion and yet play light-hearted trash talk games with page. it can't be easy, especially considering no matter what he says will be over-analyzed on the cocky-meter. rampage said he's going to beat jones, jones said he's going to beat rampage. the entire conversation with both sounded forced. i really don't think they hate each other as much as dana would like us to believe. it'll all be over saturday, then they'll hug, make up, and say how much respect they have for each other.
What I got from it is that these 2 don't hate each other at all and everything they have said negative about each other is only for the purpose of hyping the fight.
Wanderlei and Rampage couldn't have done some s--- like that a few years ago a fight would have broke out and him & Rashad would have been 10x funnier then what I just witnessed.

Exactly! In fact, I got from it that JJ might be Jacksons biggest fan!lol He was fighting back laughing, to no avail, almost the entire time and I don't know, you can just tell it's NOTHING like Page/Wandy or Chuck/Tito... not even Bisping/Hendo, Shields/Miller or Page/Evans, Lesnar/Mir, Diaz/Next Opponent, Kos/Daley, Johnson, Hughes, Bonnar, etc.....
I think Bones is getting a little full of himself (and think about it, if you were 24 and world champ, wouldn't you be cocky?), maybe to fault, but I think it's more Bones trying to take what he's learned from Rashad Evans (while they were both still at Jackson's) about hyping a fight and trying to apply it.
The whole thing seems a little forced to me.
Great fighter with a HUGE chip on his shoulder. he needs to remember what got him to the top and he is in a class that does not have champs that hold onto belts very long. All it takes is one punch and his head has gotten bigger. :lol: Rampage might not beat him but he will get beat. Then again all Rampage needs is One punch! This is MMA! Too bad because i use to like him but now his ego is making me and other's not.
MMA could use another villain and Jones is likely going to be fighting for the title a lot over the next 5 years or more. So while some don't like his attitude, we'll still tune in to watch anyone who could potentially kick his ***...so tickets are still sold regardless
Jones vs. Silva would do ridiculous numbers if Jones can get by Rampage/Evans and Silva can get by Sonnen/Stann and GSP. Probably highest selling fight of all time right there with Silva the fan favorite and Jones the villain.

i would say dismantling every opponent he's faced does speak for itself. but along with the belt comes promotional responsibilities. so in 3 years he's gone from an unknown to champion and now must do bud lite commercials and jimmy kimmel, and people are faulting him for sounding fake and cocky? if you were 24 and had just obliterated everyone you faced in the world's #1 MMA organization, basically confirming your status as one of the most dangerous men on the planet... how would you feel? would you walk around apologizing to everyone and kissing your opponent's *** so as not to disrespect anyone or sound "cocky"?

Have to agree here...he hasn't been in any kind of trouble facing some pretty talented guys and while taking the Cain approach is fine for some, this kid is obviously a talker. There's no reason why he shouldn't be either, he's probably been the best at anything he's tried in his life. The nice thing about the fight game is that this will bring on a whole new meaning to trash talk and pre-fight hype because at the end of the day, and unlike other sports,...you actually get a chance to punch a guy like this in the face
I don't think he's being fake at all to be honest, he's not that good of an actor. If anything he's just trying to get under Rampages skin like Rashad did...but in the end I don't think it's necessarily an act.
Yeah I used to be a big fan of his but he has definitely changed. I understand he is young and having so much attention on you must be crazy but Jose Aldo is young and he isn't cocky at all. I don't like him too much anymore. I know he is a great fighter though.

I totally agree. To be a successful fighter you have to go into the cage believing that you're better than the other guy and that you're going to smash him. That's cocky. There's nothing wrong with that.
