So are we clear now?
A guy strings together 10 wins using the same technique against relative unknowns and people were even re-naming the guillotine in his honor.
I guess we can say he was beaten by a near-naked-edwards?
cody needs to develop at least one more dominant skill or he's going to go down fast.
It almost hurt him more to be on TUF, it gave him some exposure but it also gave every other fighter a lot of video on him before he made a UFC debut. Had he won a few more and made it to the UFC on his own, he might have surprised a few fighters before they realized his tricks.
I can't see him making much of a mark in MMA.

it was plain stupid they named it the mackenzietine (which even sounds stupid), so I was highlighting that stupidity with something dumb of my own.
of course the rear-naked-edwards sounds lame, but so did the m...tine.

I was impressed with the Codys heart you can tell he wasnt gonna give up. I could care less if a fighter is gonna make any kind of impact on the sport as long as his is fun to watch win or lose

I didn't watch the fight, but I remember most people predicting that Cody would get KTFO when it was announced, and I was one of them. We all knew that he had a huge experience disadvantage. The fact is, he performed better than most of use thought he would, and showed some improvement. The big question in my mind is how he is going to handle it. He's a cocky guy, and I don't think he considered his loss to Nam Phan to be a true loss, since it didn't count on his record. Now that he has his first "real" defeat, it will either make him or break him.

i didn't come into this thread insulting people. you did. so why are you suggesting i stop and "shut up"?

i agree. if anything, he should have tried to pick up a win or two on TUF using some other technique. as it turned out, all his opponent had to really do was avoid the g-spot. i don't see him going far either. he's already been fighting for a while and seems very awkward and has limited skills.
i like the kid....i just think he was more of a novelty than anything.
we were asked to stay on topic so we should do it.
Cody would be a decent fighter with better hands and stamina and both of those are things that a fighter can improve on easily. I think he has potential. Last night he had a brain fart against Yves and gave up dominant position. he was gassed and that often makes people make bad fighting decisions.
