I've never heard a band or act that are so not well known to the younger generation of rock or music fans and that are so good as Creedence Clearwater Revival.
I don't know how popular they are in the states but in uk not many have even heard of them.
Their sound is amazing, the lyrics are great and the lead singers voice in John Fogerty is up there with the best lead singers I've ever heard(Robert Plant - esque).
I imagine they're probably more well known in the states, but a work friend pointed out just how good they are to me and I heard of the name and heard a couple of tunes, but I never heard of the rest till I listened to some albums.
Only formed for 5 years and only 3 albums ever made, they still went on and sold 26 million albums worldwide. That's pretty impressive considering Fogerty went solo and never really went back to any songs in his solo career or ever thought of reforming. Mick Jagger told John back in the 80s that he needs to sing some songs from his band as he said the younger generation need to hear Creedance and he still never did it enough; which was a shame.
Personally, I think they're even better than the Eagles and I'm a fan of them as well.
Bad Moon Rising and Proud Mary are probably some of their most popular of songs, but take note and listen to others like: Fortunate Son, Green River, Looking out my back door, Have you ever seen the rain, Born on the Bayou, Travelin Band, Sweet Hitch Hiker etc. Check out their own version covers of 'I put a spell on you' and 'I heard it through the grapevine' too. Amazing.
Any Creedence fans in the house?

Yeah their songs are pretty much a staple of 60's-70's blues/southern rock in America. Everyone knows their songs even if they dont know who the band is. A lot of their music sounds the same but they do have a unique sound. Fogherty has a very unique voice. Hes still out there touring on those songs.

Absolutely. But I'll admit that I am mainly a greatest hits fan.
I have 3 or 4 of their songs on my running playlist.
I like Fogherty's solo work very much too.

I think Fogarty being a "superstar" had more to do with that. Revisited is more CCR then Fogarty solo. I've seen both, and live, one isn't really better than the other.

If CCRevisited had never existed, CCR would've maintained their influence from their success in the 60's and 70's, but when CCRevisited formed, it brought "CCR' back, and they went on doing nothing relevant, which devalued the CCR name.

I don't think it had an impact to anyone in the know. CCR was John Fogerty's band and music.. Without him there is no real 'Creedence'. I hate when a rythm section carries on without the lead guitar, signer and songwriter and try to pass themselves off as the same act.
This is essentially like Meg White finding some dude and going on tour & calling themselves The White Stripes playing Jack's music

Exactly. It had no impact to the fans of CCR when they were big. But this thread is about people that were not alive when the real CCR existed

Those same people don't know who Deep Purple, Traffic or Ginger Baker are either. Just the nature of time and today's disposable culture youth
I think Revisited happened long enough ago that it doesn't matter. If you put on classic rock radio you'll hear plenty of Creedence. I heard at the grocery story the other day. And yes I sang along!

CCR would still be a band, if JF hadn't been a a b----. From the stories I've read he might be the worst band member in history, and continues to be long after. I've seen both JF and the other's, and as I said before not much difference between the two. JF sounds nothing like he did back in the day.

You might need to re-examine the evidence my friend.
He is a very gifted song writer who was ripped off left/right his shyster manager.
He refused to play his own songs (including 'Proud Mary') for years because his scumbag mgnt. Charged him(!) royalties to do so.
If he's gun shy, I can cut him a bit of slack.

Errybody knows who Deep Purple is bruh. I saw Revisited live just a few years ago, they definitely still exist. And aren't all that impressive, honestly.

You go ask 20 people under 25 and I bet at least 17 have no f---ing clue who Deep Purple are. They know Smoke on the Water but not the band.

For shame. Ginger Baker was the drummer for Cream and is maybe the best drummer in rock music next to Neil Peart.

CCR is very well known and popular in the States. Don't know about among the younger generation, but they tend to be idiots anyway and their music sucks so no biggie.
P.S. get off my lawn

Speaking of protest songs gone popular - Fortunate son is up there with Born in the USA.
