Dan Miller vs Dave Branch set for UFC 128
Dan Miller has joined brother and fellow New Jersey native Jim Miller on March's UFC 128 card.
Miller (13-4 MMA, 5-3 UFC) has agreed to take on fellow middleweight David Branch (8-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC). A source close to the negotiations informed MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) of the fight, which MMAWeekly.com first reported.
UFC 128 takes place March 19 at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.
The pay-per-view event is expected to feature a light-heavyweight headliner between champion Mauricio "Shogun" Rua and former champ Rashad Evans. It's unknown if Miller vs. Branch will be part of the televised main card.
Miller, once on the brink of his release from the organization, now looks for his third straight UFC victory. While quietly dealing with family issues, Miller dropped three straight fights via decision to division standouts Chael Sonnen, Demian Maia and Michael Bisping. UFC officials, though, decided to give the former IFL champ a final chance, and he since has rebounded with a submission win over John Salter and a split-decision victory over Joe Doerksen.
Branch, too, looks for his third consecutive UFC victory. The two-time Bellator fighter suffered a vicious body-slam-KO loss to Gerald Harris in his promotional debut earlier this year. But he rebounded with decision wins over Tomasz Drwal and Rich Attonito. The latest win allowed him to close out a busy 2010 with a solid 4-1 record.
