Its good if those media members are really media members not some UFC media center call girls which get told who to vote. It clears things up. I wonder do they include people outside UFC, thus making it know who they are interested.

Why would they include people outside the UFC for a UFC ranking?
It's going to be very hard to rank fighters. For instance, Cung Le beat Rich Franklin who beat Wanderlei Silva who beat Cung Le. Or Chris Leben beat Wanderlei Silva who beat Michael Bisping who beat Chris Leben. How the hell do you rank that? Do Rich's past accomplishments at MW play into his current rank even though he hadn't fought in the division in 4 years before the Le fight?
It should be interesting to see what they come up with, but whatever they decide will most definitely not be fully accepted. I don't think I've ever seen a top 10 list by fans that was the same or that I've agreed with.
FightMetric, the official number crunchers for the Ultimate Fighting Championship, will look to enhance fan experience by providing UFC Fighter Rankings. Ninety mixed martial arts media members from across the globe will be polled to create a pecking order for each division.
Voting will be open to media immediately after each live event, with results made available on UFC.com within 24 hours.
“UFC Fighter Rankings are a great tool for new and existing fans alike to learn and better keep up with the fast pace of the UFC,” said UFC president Dana White. “We always look for opportunities to engage fans and media, allowing them to connect and voice their opinions, and this just one more way of doing that.”
Media members will vote for the top fighters currently under the UFC’s roster by weight class and pound-for-pound. A fighter can only appear in one division at a time. The champion and interim champ of each division are set in the first and second positions, respectively, and are not eligible for voting by media. However, title holders can be voted on for the pound-for-pound rankings.
Media voting is by invitation only. However, White said following Thursday’s “
UFC 156
Ultimate Media Day” that regardless of what the rankings read, he can still trump the pecking order and arrange the fights the fans want to see.

So guys like chandler or Alvarez and aoki are screwed. This is gonna get alot of backlash from te anti-zuffa nut jobs.

I'm confused by that, if they're not in the UFC why would they be screwed for not being on the
UFC Fighter Rankings.

Most people would look at these rankings since its "official". So they would think its the best thing to real rankings. Leaving Alvarez and Chandler out who are not part of the UFC roster.

They are only UFC rankings, not overall in all of MMA rankings. People shouldn't be so sensitive. Fighters not in the UFC shouldn't really be ranked on their UFC standing IMHO. This is to rank UFC fighters for their UFC standing.

There are no actual official rankings anyway, so its a pointless and silly thing to get upset over. All rankings now are just hypothetical and opinion based and not adopted anywhere as the official rankings in the sport.
