He's back (again).
Former number one middleweight contender David Loiseau will get yet another shot at redemption inside the Octagon when he takes on Mario Miranda at UFC 115: "Liddell vs. Franklin" from the GM Place in Vancouver on Saturday, June 12, according to Sherdog.com.
"The Crow" was activated by the UFC to replace Nick Catone against John Salter on May 8 in Montreal; however, the Quebec Athletic Commission took their sweet time in granting the Canadian a license, forcing the UFC to put him on hold and call up another ex-Zuffa employee, Jason MacDonald.
Now that Loiseau has his affairs in order and has been cleared to fight, it looks like it's all systems go for Vancouver.
Since getting battered and beaten for five rounds by then-champion Rich Franklin at UFC 58: "USA vs. Canada" back in 2006, Loiseau has struggled against adequate competition to regain his top form. In fact, he's lost every UFC bout since (two) and four of his last nine bouts.
After stringing together three straight wins, Loiseau was invited back to the promotion to take on Ed Herman at UFC 97: "Redemption" last year; however, he was thoroughly defeated in a lopsided unanimous decision. The Canadian with Haitian roots most recently stopped Chester Post via first round technical knockout at MFL 2: "Battleground" earlier this year.
Rest assured, he'll need to turn in a convincing performance if he wants to stick around ... third time is the charm, perhaps?
Standing in his way is promotion sophomore Mario Miranda, who lost his Octagon debut to Gerald Harris at UFC Fight Night 21 back in March. Prior to joining the UFC, Miranda cut his teeth on the regional circuit, with notable wins over Joe Vedepo and Ricky Story.
UFC 115 will feature a main event of Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 11 coaches Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell and Rich "Ace" Franklin as well as a main card bout between Pat "Get Hype" Barry and Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic.
