Perhaps im too overdramatic with the cop out thing, but when someone says christians are out of touch, and then turns around and says atheists are out of touch, it nullifies everything. You can say that about anything and never get anywhere.
Just look at flound's and darkwingduck's discussion of hope. It's like a trainwreck inside a trainwreck that's crashing into a trainwreck. They are
literally bringing neanderthals into it
.
This thread has turned a sharp right, straight into the abyss of internet discussion.

That was me lol. It's possible though, life could just be a simulation or something.
The way we perceive the world is just because of the way our senses have evolved. For example, a bat would perceive the world completely different to us. The universe as we know it cannot exist without our brains and sense organs (like when we're dead). So the universe is actually something completely different to what we think it is. I'm a spiritual atheist!

Damn, son, you live in a pretty bifurcated bubble, don't cha?
Instead of an asinine caricature of nullification in some cosmic zero sum game, the takeaway might be that regardless of what people believe, the bulk are fearmongering twits chock full of dubious rationalizations, absent a fair bit of reason, stunningly self-unaware and prone to overuse of trainwre....ummm, nevermind.
