Ill admit that im the ultimate Fitch hater...with that being said i honestly believe that if Fitch dominates Penn with his ordinaary boring Lay n pray style he doesnt deserve another title shot. I will be first to say give him a shot if he KOs Penn or submits him because it will show me that Fitch might be improving. The Fitch that beat Alves, Thiago, Pierce, and Saunders by decision is the same Fitch that got a beatdown by GSP already and i see no reason to think another fight will be any different. Is my Fitch hatred blinding my decision making here or do most other MMA fans feel the same as i do?
On a side note: if Penn wins dominantly i dont want to see him fight GSP again either

Re: does another dominant decision win get Fitch a title sho
no, if he continue to be the same figther that got that beating the first time to GSP no he will not receive another title shot, specially since he refuse to fight against another top WW and specially since his only move is the Lay an pray
there is no point to see another GSP vs Fitch since if everyone think the beat on Kosh was so bad well the first fight it might be the worst one side beating in the history of the ufc for a title and there is simple no reason to think that it will be a diferent fight this time
now if Shields pulls the upset and Fitch won his next fight there can be some arguments to give him the title shot, definity he needs to see that he eventually has to figth against Kosh or he lost his right to continue to demand for another shot, specially been him the king of lay an pray

Re: does another dominant decision win get Fitch a title sho
If he lays and prays BJ to get the win, nope.
He will have to finish, or have a slugfest with BJ to get a shot.

Re: does another dominant decision win get Fitch a title sho
Yes, he will deserve another shot. You can't perpetually deny the #2 his Title shot. 6 is more than enough and Fitch is a top 10 p4p.
Fitch can put GSP on his back, and doesn't have a deluded and self-absorbed view of his skill set.

Re: does another dominant decision win get Fitch a title sho
I think it'll be difficult to not give him the shot if he beats Penn.
However, I don't think for a second he's deserving of one now, or has been since he was beaten by GSP.
Apart from beating Alves in his last fight, his record, since being beat by GSP, is full of out-wrestling fighters who barely make it into the top 10. Paulo Thiago is the only one I'd consider near the top 10, and he only just makes it in, if at all.

+1 exactly if he continue to win by Lay and pray and just show that move in his arsenal he will continue to be down on the ladder since he doesnt deserve another shot as long as GSP is the regim ww champ

Hopefully Koscheck proved that we don't need to see anymore rematches with GSP because they'll just end up even more lopsided than the first fight regardless of how much his opponent tries to say they've improved.

+1
Fitch vs. GSP is a waste of GSP's time in my opinion. I would much rather see him against Shields, Condit, or have him move up to Middleweight. Even is Kampmann can string together a few wins I'd rather see that fight than a second Fitch fight. That is totally unfair to Fitch, but I don't think anyone wants to see that fight again. He might as well try his luck at Middleweight before GSP gets there.

So because Kos got mauled it should have an effect on Fitch getting a second shot... :?
Fitch is better than Koscheck at just about everything with the exceptions of winging haymakers and losing fights and dumb ish.

jak point is that kosh saying that he has improve alot since his first fight something that it is true in his case it doesnt matter in the result at the end since GSP had been improve in every fight
so in Fitch case is even worse since him on the other hand hasnt improve and continue to use the same move the lay and pray so him saying he has improve will not matter since the result will be the same as the first fight even worse, even dangerous for Fitch since he got a good beating in the first fight, the second it might let him worse and gave him a permanent damage

WTF? This is MMA, the fight game. Fighters are SUPPOSED to fight! They are #1 and #2 respectively, nothing else should need to be said. I used to be a Browns fan. They've improved. Should they get a shot at the Super Bowl for never having gone?

Youre right this is MMA, the fight game...so you cant make a football comparison because its a different sport.
if Fitch has improved then I want to
SEE
it...If he KOs Penn or subs him i will say he has improved and deserving of a shot. I think this is the perfect chance for Fitch to earn a KO because his style makes his opponents use a lot of energy trying to get up and Penns gastank is suspect.

I don't like Fitch either and I know most people hate his style, but I believe he is the biggest challenger to GSP's title still.
He will dominate BJ Penn, even if you call it lay and pray, Fitch is going to win, easily.

how is Fitch going to beat GSP?? all he has shown is that he outwrestled people to decisions. Explain to me how he is going to outwrestle GSP who is the best wrestler in MMA?? The biggest challenger to GSP is Penn because he has power to KO and might be able to get a submission but i still see GSP beating Penn 9 out of 10 times they fight.

Re: does another dominant decision win get Fitch a title sho
I guess my question to you would be if GSP once again doesn't go for a finish in his next title defense and wins the same boring way he always wins, what would you suggest? Strip him of the title till he starts improving and going for finishes?
That said I understand why people dont want Fitch fighting for the title. GSP so thoroughly dominated him it is tough to think Fitch has somehow changed so much he should get a shot. Look what happened to Hughes, Penn, and Koscheck after they "improved" from their previous fights with him.
Still, Fitch is beating everyone. The devils earlier this decade were'nt prevented from playing for the Stanley Cup because they played a boring defensive style of hockey. They won, they got to play for the cup. Fitch wins. He should be fighting for the title.

On a side note, even as a Penn hugger, unless he wins in under a minute, i don't want GSP/Penn rematch either.
