with Nelson talking about title shot if Mir wins which is a big possibility, he could place himself in the title picture....Mir sells and he is a big talker so I expect him to talk himself into another title shot before he calls it a day
but I dont think he will be champ again, specially if UFC merges with SF Big Foot and Overeem would never let him see the gold...he cant beat Carwin, Brock, JDS and Cain
but who knows maybe Im wrong, thats my opinion, do you guys think he can win another title before he calls it a career? he is still somewhat young enough
thoughts?

lulz I was just thinking about this and the answer is NO. While I like frank mir a lot I just don't think he has what it takes to hang with the cream of the crop at the HW division but than again he is still only 32 and crazier s--- has happened
He's still a very good fighter who can probably be competitive with almost any top HW. But I don't like him in match-ups against JDS, Cain, Brock, Carwin, or even Overeem. I think he could have a good fight with Fedor right now. I'd take Fedor, but it could be pretty good.
with Mur being my newly appointed #1 favorite fighter ( GSP slides into #2 ), HELL YEAH he has another title run in him. As a realist, HELL NO he doesn't have another title run in him.

Well he can beat Brock, he's done it before. And even though Brock has evolved as a fighter Mir's jiu jitsu can still win him that fight, and I think he's better on the feet then Brock, but unable to keep it standing most likely. Yeah, I don't like his matchups against Carwin, JDS, and Cain either, but those aren't impossible fights for Mir. I see another title shot in his future, but I doubt he takes the belt.

yeah i dont know. Mir is my second favorite fighter and think talent wise he's one of the best HW in the world. I think his problem is his mindset. He is too relaxed and complacent at times. You cant lay there and let brock hit you, and you cant stand there and let Carwin hit you. You put on twenty pounds of muscle and let Carwin hold you up against the cage. His Jitz is top 5 maybe 3 in HW and his striking lacks speed but technique and power is good. With his size, and talent I think he can beat anyone with right gameplan. How bad he wants it, gameplan, and urgency is the key to him getting the belt. If he gets that together, then yeah he will be champ again.

I think you underestimate Roy. Seeing their grappling vid, I'd put Roy up there with Frank... And I think Roy's striking is on par, as well.

Mir's achilles heel is good strikers and good wrestlers. Unforunately for him the top HW's are either/both.

Lol, yeah... Extremely Both.
I think Carwin and Lesnar are worse matchups for him than Cain. Im not exactly sure why that is, but I just think it is.

Mir only ever rises to the top when the division is weak or other top fighters are injured. im sorry and not trying to knock him but that is the truth. i dont see him EVER beating brock, JDS, Cain etc. He will even have his hands full with big country

I agree, but he doesn't necessarily have to beat them to get a title shot. Lesnar/JDS gets the next title shot. The one after that pretty much has to be either Carwin or Mir/Nelson - the HW division isn't exactly stacked with other contenders and the UFC can't just keep recycling JDS/Carwin/Lesnar and Cain over and over - they have to put some other guys in title fights. So guys like Mir, Nelson and Schaub will be given the opportunity whether they really deserve it or not.
As much as everybody likes to say "so and so needs to fight Carwin/JDS/Lesnar before they get a title shot" the UFC doesn't do it that way. They line up guys for title shots down the road and won't eliminate all future contenders by making them fight the best of the best first.
Of course, once Strikeforce's contract with Showtime is up that opens up a ton of other fights but until then it's possible Mir will get another title fight - though I don't think it will be pretty if he manages to get it.
Imo Mid will be the gatekeeper into the top 5 in the UFC as long as he is employed there. If only he had a great wrestling coach... he could make a better title run

I dont think its his wrestling that hurts him that mach, he just doenst have tenacity or natural strength on his size. His wrestler is greatly improving, there just isnt much he can against that kinda power.
But your right the more he improves the wrestling the better chance he has.

you also have to look at the last 2 guys that beat him. Vast size and strength differences between them.

IF Im trying to find specifically whats wrong with Mir why he cant be champ again
Striking- good
BJJ- Good
wrestling- decent
size- good
see Mir is good and a well rounded fighter but he is not good enough, I cant say whats wrong with him specifically but he is just not good enough to be the champ, he will get a title shot again....Im pretty sure of that but he cant beat who ever is champ weather is Cain, JDS, Brock or Carwin or OVereem
