Ran in to a friend of mine on the way home from work.
He and I normally watch the PPV's and split the bills and he brought up UFC 116 in a few weeks and I reminded him about the fight his weekend....he looked at me white washed and went, "wha?"
He is not the most informed individual in MMA, but he does know more of the MMA world than just the UFC but he is not the type to watch MFC on hdnet on a friday night. Personally I view him as the average MMA fan. He follows Fedor (alittle) and he has watched SF and Bellator events over here at my house. But he did not know about this fight this weekend. He knew Fedor was going to fight Werdum, but really did not even care after I told him. He kept going on and on about Lesnar and Carwin.
--Fact is, Fedor may be the greatest HW fighter to ever live, he may have been the P4P best even 2 years ago....but none of that matters because know body cares what he is doing. Atleast with affliction there was contraversy around was Randy coming or is he? Can Barnett put Fedor down? Will Affliction survive on Fedor alone?
But here in SF Fedor has faded away in to irrelevance and that is the fault of SF, M-1 and Fedor.
Strikeforce was a strong mid-level show that put on quality fights. (Much like the WEC is doing now.) But now they are having to pull things out that are out of character because they brought the heat on themselves by stepping in and making a move on Fedor and by getting on CBS and claiming that what you were seeing was the best that MMA had to offer(which outside Fedor is a stretch).
People talk about Strikeforce and there deal with DREAM, but they have that co-promtion with an organization based in Japan. You do not see them co-promoting with an American based promtion like Bellator. There president has offered to do a fight with Alvavrez and Coker will not even take the call.
Do they know what they are doing?....At one point yes, but they are trying to make themselves in to something that they are not. A copy-cat version of the UFC. I even heard a song from the UFC playing one of the promo's in the last SF event.

Exactly....except from what I am seeing they are almost going the WWE route......being more sports entertainment than a real sport. Giving a guy coming off a loss a shot at the HW title? Now talking about giving Robbie Lawler a shot at the title after two losses....tourny or not he shouldn't be given a chance.
Plus I don't think I have seen any advertisement for this at all.......like any. I will admit I DVR most things but damn I still see UFC promos everywhere.

yeah, SF is the ONLY ORG givin shots away right????
guess Randy Couture got all of his title shots by beating the f--- out of all conteders..
Hell, the UFC gave a WWE guy, with a 1-1 record a shot to the title...
