I've been thinking this has been going on for a while now - that the UFC controls all the fight media through intimidation and fear of repercussions for reporting issues that are honest and factual.
everyone knows exactly what happened with marquordt, yet aren't publishing any stories on it. Do you seriously expect me to believe that 2 time journalist of the year doesn't have any idea why marquordt is cut?
I'd like someone to explain to me how A NEWS MEDIA/OUTLET company can pretend not to know what is going on, to avoid publishing FACTS and why they would do that? I suppose it's possible - even Josh Gross who usually won't play games isn't saying anything. or did they finally get to him too?
I'm embarassed.

Its really no difference that espn not reporting anything about the Lebron's mom/delonte west situation. Even bill Simmons in his podcast won't do anything more than make a veiled reference to it. It's called libel and if you don't have the truth verified you don't print it. You want speculation go to the potato website

Speculation
is that Nate failed to disclose testosterone supplements" would suffice to avoid libel issues.
I just can't see it playing out like this in any other sport? Here, nobody wants to be the one to piss off Dana. (ask Gross, sherdog or even Nate M himself what happens)

also, this is, of course, not directed at Junkie in particular - they have to play the game same as everyone else.

Common sense = professional journalists are good at their jobs. They know what it is. If they actually didn't know, that would be even worse.
Here's another person saying the same thing I am - Joe Lauzon, the only difference is that he is not looking at the implications of "No one will say anything till the ufc does". That's fine for him, but as a journalist...that's a problem.
"Marquardt's weight was good... he was on last night. I heard what happened, but no one will say anything until the UFC does. Be patient"
I kind of think all the media outlets are looking at each other saying
"you go first"
"no you go first'"
"no no you go first you always want to break stories, give'r"
"no you deserve a big break, you take this one"

In case you're still wondering, no one can say anything due to the strict HIPAA laws in Pennsylvania. So unless you hear from Nate, Dana or PA athletic commission, then it's all hearsay.

Honestly who gives a crap....its not like a champion disappeared right before a title fight. Nate was a middle tier fighter who lost to all the elite fighters he faced. His biggest claim to fame is TKO'ing Wilson Gouvaiea (sp?)....meaning I won't miss seeing him fight.

Or the TKO of Martin Kampmann? Or the KO of Damien Maia? Nate has been a top 5 MW for a very long time. He was #2 for many many years as well until he lost to Sonnen. The lowest he really has been in a very long time is #4 behind Silva, Sonnen, and Okami. He has lost to Sonnen(#2 MW), a loss to Okami in which both fighters looked like s---, a loss to Leites in which many thought he actually won, and then a loss to the best fighter on the planent. Nate is def not middle tier. A middle tier fighter doesnt get a title shot and then two #1 contender fights.

It's against the law for the UFC to reveal Marquardt's private medical information. That's why they haven't done it.

They can't publish FACTS if facts haven't been released. The only person that is legally permitted to disclose the reason Marquardt failed the medical is Marquardt. Thus, reporters can't just ask Dana or the PSAC what happened and get the answer.
