Bellator MMA will return to the Forum on Jan. 20 by flexing the strength of its deep welterweight division, matching champion Douglas Lima against former UFC title challenger Rory MacDonald.
“When I signed with Bellator, I made it clear I wanted to take over — multiple weight classes and multiple championships,” MacDonald said in a prepared statement. “Douglas Lima and his title are first on the list before I move onto the next.”
Tickets for the card are scheduled to go on sale at 10 a.m. Sept. 29 at Ticketmaster.
MacDonald (19-4), a 28-year-old Canadian, debuted in Bellator by defeating England’s Paul Daley by rear naked chokehold in May.
He departed the UFC following a loss to Stephen Thompson, after engaging in a riveting 2015 title loss to Robbie Lawler.
In Brazil’s Lima, 29, MacDonald confronts a champion who successfully defended his belt at New York’s Madison Square Garden on June 24, defeating Riverside’s Lorenz Larkin by unanimous decision.
“I haven’t been this healthy in a long time and Rory is going to be just another win on my record,” Lima said in the prepared statement.
Bellator President Scott Coker, who staged a Tito Ortiz vs. Chael Sonnen main event at the Forum in January, said the upcoming main event will illustrate the talent in his welterweight division.
“These two are going to put on an incredible show,” he said.

At the Forum, it says it on the first line in the article.
The paper's the LA Times, so I'm assuming they mean the Forum in LA.

Wow I Think Rory will legitimately be the first Bellator champ that would be the odds on favorite in a match with his ufc counterpart.
I wouldn't have thought when either Lombard. Or Shlemenko were Bellators middle weight champ that they woulda been against Silva, Weidman, or Rockhold.
Pat Curran? Dan Strauss? Friere?
No. Nope. Uh-uh.
Lima ? probably not even against Hendricks.
Definitely not against Lawlor or Woodly

I'm going to laugh so hard if Rory gets beat in the B league for their title when people still have him top 5 in the world at 170.

He put it on the UFC champ and the last title challenger. There's a chance he loses (this IS mma) but I don't understand why it's so funny. Rory beats Lima 9 times out of 10 but anyone can get cracked. Especially a couple times in the nose and that will f--- with anyone's head.
I still think Rory wins this. And I still think he puts it on Woodley.

It would be funny, but Rory is a guy the UFC should not have let walk away. If he was not in Bellator right now I think he is the UFC WW champ or has a fight with TW lined up by the end of this year. Normally the UFC is good at letting fighters walk and then we see they are not the same. Rory I think proved in his last fight he is not done and the time off was good for him. Dude should walk though Lima.

Beating Daley shows nothing about him being "done"....Daley is a step or more below anyone Rory faced in the UFC except for BJ Penn.

I agree Daley was a step down, but he walked right though him. Just like he'll do to Lima.
