I could be stereo typing and i could be very wrong with this, because i don't live there, but it has always seemed that Japanese like the ring better, they can see it better and they have dwarfed North American shows in shear number of size of people watching at a live event. You can go to an event here with only 10k+ and not really be able to see what the h*ll is going on inside the cage if you don't know where to purchase your seats.
That's just my opinion though.

i love the gloving white rings and the views are so much better. i think in a cage ur always forced to watch from an awkward angle and techniques are less important. u also cant trap ur opponent as much than in a ring.

-1 do you also the stoppages midway through the fight so they can pull fighter that have slipped under the ropes into the center of the ring. Or how bout when you have a swarm of small refs trying to keep fighters against the ropes from falling through. While agree the ring is better for live viewing. The cage is better for fighting

yep im a viewer and almost everybody else on here is a viewer.
but not only for live viewing but also from television stand point. with the cage u get an awkward downward angle and the camera constantly changes. does anyone else find that annoying or is it just me?
It's not really a drastic angle. Not nearly as bad as football or basketball. Plus from a downward angle your able to see both sides of the fighters instead of if the camera was at eye level with them you would only see the close side. As for mulitple camera changes. That's gonna happen no matter what, as the fighters move the producers need to get the best angles. If they were just standing in front of each other rock'm'sockem robot style it would be annoying but as fighters are scrambling and grappling it's necessary

it still is awkward but i guess its more of a personal preference, and i just prefer to watch a ring match. camera changes, ur right its gonna happen, but fewer the better and its just distracting if it happens often. and if fighters fought like rockm-sockm robots, that would be hella entertaining!!
anyway, i just think cages produce more boring wrestling fights than rings.

I'm all for variety, and would prefer that MMA organizations have some variety between them re: rules, fighting arena, etc...
you can corner your opponent in a ring, which is much different than pinning them against a cage. They both have their advantages and disadvantages.

I'm no fan of stalling against the cage or on the ground - but I've also found that opponents with a similar level of skill tend to negate each other, which can also make for a less than spectacular matchup.
The restarts with the ring also throw off the pace of the match. Like I said, either has it's pluses and minuses.

True, that the clinch against the cage happens but, we're talking Dream. They don't let the fight get stagnate. Its Dream rules in the cage. Guys that like to knee on the ground probably love the cage.
