I've been one time, it was crazy. Some tiny town in rural Iowa does these 8 hour classes & then a jump at the end of the day. The 2 parts that messed me up were flying up there in a shitty little plane and then after the parachute had been pulled. It took forever to get back to the ground. The free fall part right out of the plane was awesome

I bungee jumped a couple of times and it wasn't really my favorite experience (don't ask me why I did it the second time!) The free fall wasn't too fun, although maybe if you had a second to get used to it (like skydiving) instead of just plunging directly at the ground, it might be more fun. I think I would enjoy the coast down. How long did it take to land?
I also hate small planes... took one over the grand canyon one time and everyone on the plane got off throwing up. No fun.

When I was diving in Turkey, a lady had a heartattack under water. Same kind of thing. She didn't make it. But similar type situation.

I want to say about 10 minutes, but this was ten years ago and my memory isn't great. The free fall lasted less than a minute, it may have even been less than 30 seconds. It was a great experience, but I will never do it again.
Many jumps. Love jumping out of planes. I love skydiving. Love it, love it, love it.
How long it takes you to land depends on several factors; the height you jump from and the height you pull, your weight, your 'flying ability', both free falling and under canopy and the actual canopy you have - round, parasail, 5 cell, 7 cell, etc...
A rookie solo jump will typically occur at 3K, with your main being pulled by the instructor immediately upon jumping. If you're lucky enough not to black out (most do) you might get 2-3 seconds of free fall. Then, you're probably looking at 2-8 minutes of descent depending on your flight choices and glide angle. Most rookies, that'll be around 3-5 minutes of descending.
And if you have an AAD, your reserve will open automatically based on altitude and velocity. Most are set for 500'.
My first 25 jumps, until I was fully certified, I jumped with an AAD and most times since, but a few times, I've gone without. You do think about it...

Ok, just watched the vid. Take a bow, f---er. Good job.
First off, the guy who had the seizure wasn't doing a half bad job of flying stable (arms out, legs spread a bit and bent) but you could tell he's still learning and getting instruction/testing - a bit shaky. But as soon as the seizure hits, he did that roll onto his back...at that point he would've accelerated from about 120mh to 150mph and the instructor had to go head down a bit to catch him.
When instructor missed on the first pass and the guy dropped, he probably had to go full head down, 240mph dive to catch up, then 'brake' by going belly to earth again and move towards the guy, pull his chute and get the f--- out of the way. Even so, you can see the closure rate on the helpless jumper when he does grab him.
I'd buy that guy a bunch of beers.
Edit: that guy is good. On rewatch, I noticed he's doing his full check on his canopy. Ends unfurled, cells inflated, no tangled lines and he waited until his slider came all the way down. A lot of guys get a bit jaded about that....you shouldn't.

Yeah that's what I was most impressed with... when he initially broke away and took off, that instructor had to nose dive down there to catch him. Then to actually do it and not slam into the guy when you get there and pull his shoot all in about 3 seconds.... that's pretty impressive. Cool under pressure there!
