MMALive just announced:
UFC 1. Anderson Silva
UFC 2. Georges St. Pierre
UFC 3. Jose Aldo
UFC 4. Frankie Edgar
UFC 5. Shogun Rua
UFC 6. Dominic Cruz
UFC 7. Cain Velasquez
UFC 8. Jon Jones
UFC 9. Jake Shields
UFC 10. Gray Maynard
It's just the UFC champs, looking at the top 7. I think that's kind of discrediting. As if no #1 contender ("Bones") is better than any UFC champion? Like there's that big of a gap between the champs and the contenders, that there's enough room for all of the champs to fit in?
I think the (my) top 4 are in a category of their own, called Absurdly Good, being Anderson, GSP, Aldo, and Jon Jones.
Right below that are a bunch of guys that have beaten everyone they possibly could, and are just at the misfortune of competing in the same sport as the top 4, being Cain, Edgar, Cruz, Maynard, Rashad, Shields.

That's right, no Shogun. I love the guy, but Rashad and/or Jon Jones will/would beat him at least 80% of the time. I think Machida would beat him 75% of the time, and a lot of you are scrambling to reply to this and yell at me, but remember this:
Machida definitely won the first fight, and was throwing Rua around like a girl in the second fight until he got clipped behind the ear. I'm not trying to make this a Lyoto conversation, but I think Cruz and Cain definitely deserve to be ranked higher than him. He beat a washed up Chuck and Coleman before the Lyoto fights. How is that more respectable than what Maynard has done?

Miletich brings up good points, about Alvarez and Melendez, and I was surprised he didn't mention Nick Diaz, and he also thinks Cain should be higher (he had him #4)

Ranking are subjective so everybody will disagree. Hilarious that people are blasting Josh. You just disagree with the guy.

Maynard KO'd himself for one, nor has he ever been champion ever.
Shogun Rua is currently the UFC LHW champion, and he did beat Lyoto the first fight, and he TOOLED him the second.
Just cause the guy has bum knees doesn't mean he isn't a P4P great.
You have to put Shogun in the top 5 or something is wrong with the list. (IN MY OPINION.)
Also, NOT SURE IF SERIOUS.

Exactly my thoughts. It's one thing to have a ton of UFC guys on there, but for 1-7 to be the champs, and 8-10 to be guys booked for title fights? Pretty ridiculous. Especially considering there are guys like Overeem who definitely deserve a spot. And what about Cyborg? She slaughters the women's 145 division. Gross just went UFC fanboy with his list, and that kinda makes me lose respect for him.
And I definitely agree that Bones doesn't deserve a spot. He hasn't proven himself against anyone good enough to be a P4P top tenner. He's at the bottom of the LHW top 10, imo. Maynard is a good fighter, but not quite worthy of making this list. And Shields put on a terrible performance in his last fight, I don't see how he even got a spot.... Shogun has a solid argument for him, but there should be a question mark next to him until after we see what he can do next Saturday.

I would have a problem with Cyborg being on a P4P list because she doesn't really have any serious competition due to the face that female MMA divisions are so shallow.

OP, how are you going to have JJ above the champion he is supposed to fight? Im definitely riding the JJ train, but to have him above the champion is asinine.

The UFC heavyweight division is pretty shallow, yet Velasquez makes it onto top ten lists all the time. Cyborg has no real competition because she is so dominant over all the other women in the division. And to me, that's part of what makes her a top ten, that level of dominance. I'm not saying she's up near the top, but around the 8-10 area.
