That's true.
But their first album almost killed punk and created pink punk and inspired bands like Good Charlotte and the rest of the suburban crap bands, and that I cannot forgive. After their first album their next couple albums sucked so they fell off the radar and their last couple of albums single handedly created the emo movement. also something I cannot forgive. They really inspred a lot of s--- the world didn't need and now spend their time capitalizing of the wars.

I agree coldplay sucks balls and needs to go away. As far as green day, their first 3 albums were ok, everything after dookie sucks. Those bands like good charlotte,sum 41 and new found glory are horrible. I dont see how they can even be considered punk. Not at all punk has to be like dead kennedys or black flag. You can still make really catchy punk without destroying the genre. Stuff like the ramones, the misfits, bad religion and the buzzcocks are really catchy, yet they kept the core values of what punk is. The term pop punk is hilarious cause punk music was never made to be popular. Its just typical though in this day and age for society to candy coat everything. Its happened to a lot of american metal music as well and even extended into movies. Just look at twilight

This doesn't make much sense to me, to be honest morbid. Most of the "punk" parts of the thread don't, actually. To me, you either define punk like the "purists" and say it started in '75 @ Max's Kansas City and CBGB's and ended @The Winterland, or you just define as you like (for me, more about the attitude than the music per se) and apply the term where you find the music everywhere from '55 to yesterday. Seems like cherry picking otherwise.

Much Music is terrible. It's all reality tv show nobody else would air and f-- bands like Hedley and Billy Talent.

Living in a town where a ton of Aussies come every year I've found you guys generally tend to like U2/Coldplay. So because of that your musical opinion is invalid
An Aussie buddy of mine introduced me to a ton of bands you don't hear outside of Aus and plenty were shite but several were pretty good. I enjoyed Cog and a some others I forget. For some reason mostly only the crap (besides ACDC of course) gain international success, ie: Wolfmother/Air Supply.

Im not a fan of coldplay but I dont b---- about their music... I just dont listen to stuff I dont like.
