MMAWeekly
A light heavyweight bout has been added to UFC: Nottingham with Brazilian slugger Fabio Maldonado facing Swede Jorgen Kruth.
UFC officials announced the new match-up on Tuesday.
Fabio Maldonado returns to action and will be swinging for a finish after two fairly controversial losses in his last two fights. Maldonado had solid performances against both Kyle Kingsbury and Igor Pokrajac but the judges ultimately gave both fights to his opponents.
Now Maldonado looks to stop the two-fight skid when he fights in England this September.
Facing Maldonado will be undefeated Swedish born prospect Jorgen Kruth.
Kruth was one of the Swedish born fighters originally scheduled to fight on the UFC on Fuel TV 2 card that landed in the country in April, but he suffered an injury that forced him off the card.
The former Muay Thai and kickboxing champion will now face Maldonado in a bout between two very heavy hitters.

Damn this card is actually shaping up pretty well. Some great fights, not exactly worth the prices, but Maldonado is one of my favourite fighters to watch.

should be a great fight. I am a big fan of Maldonado and his punishing stand up style, especially his body work.

Should be 2-0 in the UFC, imo.

3-0. He got screwed over against Kingsbury, too.

Eh, thought Kingsbury won that fight, but did get screwed against Pokrajac, in my opinion. He should be able to get the win here, though.

I don't like to gripe about records too much, it's whatev. But I thought he won those fights from what I saw and score. He's a banger for sure, really good technique as well as combos, bad dude

Maldonado has screwed himself in those past fights and deserved to lose. He may have done damage but he took a lot of damage and didn't dictate the pace of either of those fights that he lost. That said, this is a dope fight.

I agree.
I just forgot about the McSweeney fight.

He does have a habit of taking too much damage, but you'll still never be able to convince me he didn't win those fights.
He outstruck Pokrajac 166-64. Whether he took a few knees and some unneccessary damage or not, that's horrid judging.

Judges don't have compustrike as the fight is going on. Its all about how the fight looks in the moment, and Maldonaldo looked bad in the moment as far as his approach.

I realize that, but neither do I as I'm watching the fight and that one still looked pretty clear to me. The Kingsbury fight was closer, but still thought he won that one as well.

You're watching the fight on a TV, with the best camera angles at every point. Judges get one view of the fight.

Which is why I've always been a supporter of judges on monitors.
