Yes, 100%.
Georges St-Pierre is probably the only one who could steal that distinction away from Fedor or even make it a "Three best MMA fighters ever" in the not-too-distant future, but it all depends what he does in the next few years.

I think Fedor's place as one of the greatest of all time is a lock. I am not even the biggest Fedor fan, but the guy was at the top of the rankings for so long. He might get lost in the shuffle with the casual fans, but the hardcores will probably always consider him the best.
Yup. What they both have done thus far in their careers is unrivaled in MMA by a mile.
Everyone, take advantage of the opportunity to watch these legends fight their last few fights, especially fans of Anderson while he's still at the top of his game. In 30 years I'll be explaining to my kids about Anderson and Fedor, but they'll never be able to experience the great presence they have in the sport.

For sure. People are going to want to throw GSP into the mix (as the often do) but the poll was "fighter", not "fight winner".

Chael Sonnen ''I watch loads of sports, hockey, rugby, anything that might break out into a fight really, which is why i stopped watching Georges years ago''

I agree with you on the analogy but even to the hardcore boxing fans its hard to pick a greatest. Huge boxing fan and I could never pick the greatest.
^^^thats true but if you have the conversation of the greatest boxers the short list is Ali, Joe Louis and Sugar Ray Robinson but if you ask casual fans who the greatest is.......I guarantee you they wont even know or mention Ray Robinson
heck they'll even mention Floyd Mayweather before they mention Sugar Ray Robinson

I think it depends on how Anderson Silva finishes out his career. I think he very well could surpass Fedor, but as of now he hasnt
Right now, this is totally right. If Anderson gets a win over GSP, Jon Jones, or any other top 5 Light Heavyweight, then I think he takes the #1 spot from Fedor.

no I wouldnt say any of the top 5.....beat the champ at LHW Jon JOnes then he takes number one, other than that I dont see him surpassing Fedor

If he beats Rampage, Shogun, or Rashad, you wouldn't put him over Fedor? What if he beats two of them? If he beats two of them he would have 3 victories over former UFC Light Heavyweight Champions.

You do get a sense of wasted opportunities for Silva. Too many dire fights which he should have finished. I dont blame him though.

nope, beat the champ Jon Jones
the gap is not that close IMO, if he beats Jones there wont be any questions
