Earlier today a rumor spread through the MMA community that Russian legend Fedor Emelianenko had been cut from his Strikeforce contract. The move would have likely ended Emelianenko's career on the sport's largest stage. The Russian website LifeSports.ru reported the news this morning saying:
Business owners UFC and Strikeforce have refused to renew the contract with the world champion in MMA heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko.
M-1 Global official Evgeni Kogan immediately denied the report and they issued this strong statement to Bloody Elbow:
"It's unfortunate that the site (LifeSports.ru) has shown little to no journalistic integrity; this is also not the first time their writers have fabricated a story to create attention. Quite simply, it should be ignored. Should there ever be a change in Fedor's status, rest assured that M-1 would provide an official position."
Fedor is currently training in Holland with kickboxing legend Ernesto Hoost. He is expected back in action this summer for Strikeforce.

Yep, I never put much faith or trust in anything that has Fedors name in it. With this bunch, you just never know what is the truth and what just fell out of their a$$es. Its a shame to. Even though im not a fan of Fedor, i do believe him to be one of the best to ever grace MMA and i would like to see how he would do against the top 5-6 HW's.

So you want to see him lose five or six more fights in a row......J/K He is one of the greatest, I will give him that, but I think time has caught up to him at this point. He needs to change something about the way he get ready for fights or how he fights to get back to the legend he was before. It would be cool to see him start up another streak, but I really don't see that happening.

I tink your opening sentence/statemnt/point is correct. In my most humble opinion, Fedor should retire and go out the legend that he became and not like Chuck. I hate when these legends, in any sport, go out with less than impressive ends to their careers. If he calls it a day now, he can still be the " Man " but if he loses the next 3-4-5 fights then it will be hard to call him the Man.

I am pretty sure he has atleast 1 more fight on his contract,Mabe 2..After his contract is done i think then we have to worry because M-1 has such a hold on him..If it was up to Fedor i think we would see him fight alot more..The man is fearless and a total warrior..

I think it's pretty apparent that Fedor doesn't very much care to fight any more. I actually hope beyond hope that this rumor is accurate, because further high level fights are more than likely going to result in more embarrassing losses. I've been one of Fedor's harsher critics, but I do acknowledge his place as one of the greatest, if not the greatest, mixed martial artists to ever live. I don't like seeing the current version of him at all. It only adds fuel to the lesser educated fans' fire.

Elbow or M-1.

Sorry not hating but you can't be the champion riding a 2 fight losing streak. And please don't bombard me with he is still the WAMMA champion. We all know what a pile of BS that title is.

I'm sure his mob bosses...errr... managers, wanted WAY too money(as usual). He had his chance awhile back and he got greedy. Sucks for the fans, I was looking forward to him getting beatdown by the current crop of young HW's. Biggest loser in all this.... M-1
