Just wondered if you guys could think of any major times that something a fighter did outside of a fight influenced how much of a fan you are of them and if that should be frowned upon. Should we only base our opinion on what they do inside the cage ?? I'm feelin kinda bad cause im being swayed right now and i just wanted to know if your fandom has been affected by anything like this
The whole nick diaz going to boxing thing got me thinking about it cause im a huge diaz fan. I just dont really agree with his whole stance right now. Given im not a fighter and have no idea what its like to be but just as a person living in this country at the same time as him i find it hard to believe that these financial problems are so severe that he needs to leave the sport he loves because of them.. On top of that the whole none of these other fighters are as good thing is pretty whack to
That said his fights are still always amazing

Even through all his bulls---, im still a huge Chael Sonnen fan.
But AS lost me as a fan when he entered his dancing phase. And then when i realized everything Chael said about him was true, i disliked AS even more. So he lost me as a fan by his in, and out of cage antics.

Your thread title was kinda confusing, but Brendan Schaub. Liked him on TUF, can't stand him anytime he opens his mouth anymore. He's gotten so cocky lately imo.

I've stuck with Sonnen through all this crap and I'm still probably his biggest fan on here, no word of a lie.
Dude is like freaking God to me.

The only time I can think of is when Melvin Guillard accused Joe Stevenson of taking cocaine and then he ended up getting caught with it. I lost a lot of respect for him but I have gained it all back as he has seemed to mature and turn his life around.

Matt Hughes. I didn't start watching TUF until Season 10, so I went back and watched old ones. His interviews always tend to come across pretty humbly, but his attitude when he coached the show just reallllllllllllllllly turned me off of him as a person.

You wont meet too many wrestlers while there coaching that you will like...
I liked silva after I saw his in-home on demand special.
Stopped carying so much Mayhem when I see interviews of him being very immature outside of his tv presence getting frustrated with the way D.W. runs his organization, or when he got snippy with Hawanni... Theres been multiple incidents of the crying but overall I like him just a little less, oh and the whole Jake Shields/furcoat/vegatarian thing... (Unnecesary but a little funny)

It wasn't even his coaching style; it was just his attitude during downtime and towards Serra.

Diaz
He's such an exciting fighter but he complains about money.
He signed the contact to stay in sf
If he'd "play the game" he'd be in the UFC getting FOTN,SOTN,KOTN bonuses every fight and would have been one fight from a title shot like Shields.
And there's no fight in boxing that will earn him six figures

Problem is that SF is based in San Jose CA, and its legal to carry a medical marijuana card there, UFC is still trying to get sanctioned all over the world and having a guy who will most likely fail a NIDA-5 panel screen wont help their case.
I think the athletic commissions need to realize that a little mary jane has no "performance enhancing" properties.

The whole program is a joke it's meant for people who are going through kemo or other serious problems not some kid that says he can't sleep
But that's not the point, it's his fault hes making this kind of money and there isnt more in boxing

Nick Diaz - like everyone else, I enjoy watching him fight. But that's all I enjoy about him. He's a hypocrite for sure.
Complains about how much he gets paid, yet is unwilling to work on his image so he CAN sign with the UFC and make big money on a fight with GSP or Anderson. Not to mention he JUST signed a new contract a couple of months ago, and he's already complaining again?! There are many other things he says that are completely idiotic, but I'll just leave it at that.
Thiago Silva - always liked him until he tried to play a victim role after taking banned substances. He had no issue that Vera got fired either.
Chael Sonnen - he is an absolutely terrible person. He's a cheater, liar, thief, and manipulator. How people can like him as a person is beyond me. These same people hate Anderson because he dances, yet love Chael even though he's pretty much scum.
That said, I LOVE Chael's trash talk. To me, he's probably the most entertaining guy in MMA. He says some of the funniest, most outrageous stuff, and I can't get enough of it. I'll probably never root for him to win, but I love watching his interviews. He is by far the best fight-hype guy in the business.

Well I dont know what you heard, but theres a SCHITT LOAD more money in boxing. Ask Manny Pacquiao how hes doing. Also marijuana has been linked to absolutely no decreases in mental function in virtually any study in the past 30 years. And has had studies suggest things like creating an unstable host environment for the development of cancer cells in healthy users, increased mental function among users diagnosed with schizophrenia, and degenerative disorders like ALS, and Parkinsons, and increased mood in all users. Also, recent research suggests a "cannabinoid system" is present in all human brains. "Like all neurotransmitter networks, the cannabinoid system consists of a series of chemical pathways through the brain and nervous system. Marijuana produces its effects by activating this pathway, primarily through the effects of tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, the drug's main active ingredient. So IMO, he should be able to do what he wants with it." http://www.redorbit.com/news/health/106331/marijuanas_potential_exciting_researchers__might_treat_als_parkinsons_disease/index.html
And other studies suggest that the only harm Mary jane does is a direct result of inhaling smoke. Therefore EATING pot can cause no harm, or decreased mental function to users, regardless of frequency of use.
So I think he should be able to do what he wants. It has also never been linked to any "performance enhancing" properties or effects.

This is the only part of your post that i don't agree with. Nick Diaz =/= Pac Man. He will NEVER come close to making that kind of money in mma or boxing. There is only a ton of.money in boxing for the Pacquiaos and the Mayweathers. Nick Diaz will most likely never reach that level of skill or hype in the sport of boxing.
All the stuff about cannabis is spot on though. Good read.
