Fighting Spirit
is a show on Mnet, the Korean channel which also has an outlet in Los Angeles. The program has evolved a bit since starting out like a version of TUF, but seemingly inviting fighters in off the street and allowing them to face one or more pros in order to gain a chance at fighting for a contract with Road FC.
This season they've tweaked the show a bit to follow only two fighters per episode, who may or may not have fighting experience. Celebrity trainers play a role, and right around the time of his fight with Mark Hominick, Chan Sung Jung was a guest trainer. This past Saturday I was pleasantly surprised to see Dennis Kang coaching one fighter, while his brother Julien (I didn't even know he had a brother!) coached the other fighter.
The eventual fight was over quickly, but the show as a whole is pretty entertaining, especially considering the differences between the Korean culture (the show is recorded there) and American culture. The interactions are unique. Another nice thing about the channel is that nearly everything is subtitled in English, making it more understandable.
