Firas Zahabi reportedly told TVA Sports that "if GSP does not have the motivation after Hendricks fight, he will retire."

Good for him! He should follow his heart and especially in combat sports, where Desire and Motivation are pretty important
Besides he really has nothing left to prove. The best WW Ever, to this point and he can just go and make movies or whatever the HeII he wants to do

How crazy would it be if he beat Hendricks and retired. The WW division would be a f---ing free for all. Condit, Brown, Hendricks, Maia, Shields, Rory, s---.... It would probably bring Diaz back into the fold. It would be utter chaos.

Don't forget Askren!
I'd hate to see him go but you're right the WW Division would be super energized and the onslaught to claim the vacant belt would probably be pretty interesting considering all the talent in the weightclass

Askren doesn't count cause he's not in the UFC or even close to signing.

This would not be a bad thing. It was not to long ago a champ GSP age would retire from boxing. He has made his money, and his legacey will remain. If he can go out on top why not. It is better this way then to wait, and start to slide and maybe get KTFO a few times, then call it.
Also as others have said it would really bring some major life back to the WW. It is a stacked weight class now, would be fun to have a GP to crown a new champ.

You think GSP saw what happened to Anderson and is thinking really hard about his legacy now? He really doesn't have a damn thing left to do in the sport other than maybe some 'super fights' that don't mean anything and kind of lost their steam anyway.
Or, what is his contract status? Usually when guys start talking like this, it's part of some preliminary negotiations.

Maybe, but then you'd see Shields taking Condit's belt away pretty soon.

And then in a few years Brandon Thatch will take the belt

Condit has improved since their fight. Shields has been getting worse the last few years. So, no.

I disagree. Shields is a tough matchup for Condit. Even though Shields's take downs aren't too impressive, Condit's take down defense is awful. And once Shileds gets on top of Condit (which he will) it's over.
I see it as an easy win for Shields.

Condit's TDD defense isn't great, but he's not really that susceptible to Shields' type of takedowns these days. Plus, Sheilds does not have the top game of GSP. Condit would simply get up, sweep, or submit. Yes, I said Condit could submit Sheilds. Maybe it's just the fights Shields has been in the last few years, but he hasn't submitted anybody in over four years. In fact, overall he has 16 decision to 10 sub wins. He may have great bjj for bjj competitions, but his mma bjj is no world killer.
